[Guide] Knowing Your Enemy Types and Weaknesses (In-progress!)

    Hi, everybody! I know you guys are all busy with what with you are all doing in Exvius.

    Might as well give you some interesting facts about your enemies. As you all know in the FF Series, enemies are sometimes denoted with various types. Not just their elements or innate abilities. This guide will let you know more of your various enemy types found in the game, and how you can deal and not to deal with them!

    This info will be working in-progress. If you guys are players from the Japanese version, let me know if there is something here that must be added or some other facts that I haven't heard from yet.

    Note: Colored enemies denotes as obtainable Espers in their respective element (with the exception of Cactuar), otherwise either powerful sub/mid-bosses and major bosses.

    Beast
    Common Enemies: Rats, Nutkins, Wolves, Bears, Coeurl, Chimera, Belmodar, Eater, Demon Chimera, Ifrit
    Facts: Some of your most common enemies you will find in the game.
    Weakness: Beast Killer
    Units with Beast Killer: Firion
    Espers with Beast Killer: Ifrit
    Weapons with Beast Killer: Werebuster

    Avian
    Common Enemies: Bats, Eagles, Zu, Rukh, Sprinter, Siren
    Facts: Flying enemies to be exact. Several of them can either suck out your units' HP, inflict Poison or turn them to stone. One amusing fact is that Siren is an Avian-type monster herself.
    Weakness: Thunder or Wind elements, Bird Killer
    Immunities: Some Avian-types are immune to Earth-elemental attacks.
    Trivia: Despite Siren is Aquatic in nature, she has bird-like wings making her an Avian type in this game.
    Weapons with Bird Killer: Boomerang, Chakram, Moon Ring Blade, Great Bow
    Units with Bird Killer: Gimlee, Firion, Vaan

    Aquatic
    Common Enemies: Flan, Frogs, Shark, Abtu, Sahagin, Gil Snapper, Architeuth
    Facts: Some lurk on water, some does not. They do have affinity for Water elements.
    Weakness: Ice or Lightning elements, Aquan Killer
    Resistance: Water-elemental attacks
    Trivia: Flans in most games are resistant to physical attacks. Flans in this game has their corresponding color and elemental weakness.
    Trust Master Reward: Ollie

    Stone
    Common Enemies: Bas-relief, Gladilith, Roper, Headstone, Objet d'Art, Monster Effigy, Golem
    Facts: Stone-made creatures. High defenses, highly resistant to physical attacks but can be weak to magic.
    Weakness: Magic, Stone Killer, Wind elements
    Resistance: Physical attacks (several enemies like Bas-relief)
    Trivia: Several Stone-based enemies can be killed with a Gold Needle or the Stona. However, it's practically impossible in this game.
    Trust Master Reward: King Giott
    Espers with Stone Killer: Golem


    Plantoid
    Common Enemies: Cactuar, Minituar, Ivy, Mandragora, Treant, Ochu
    Facts: Found in forests or deserts. Some of them buffs other allies, while some are just too annoying, like the Cactuars who utilizes the 1,000 Needles attack.
    The Cactuars fought in Cactuar Dunes are merely a small threat.
    Weakness: Fire or Ice elements, Water element (Cactuar), Plant Killer
    Resistance: Earth or Water elements
    Immunities: All Status Ailments (Mandragora's case)
    Espers with Plant Killer: Ifrit


    Insect
    Common Enemies: Spiders, Hornets, Mantis, Scorpion, Antlion
    Facts: Found in forests, plains or deserts. Several of them can inflict Poison or some annoying status ailments. Mantises usually have high attack power and can be a real threat at the beginning. Spiders can use Thread to Paralyze your units. While the Antlion poses a threat in the desert, so be careful!
    Weakness: Fire or Ice elements, Bug Killer
    Units with Bug Killer: Firion
    Espers with Bug Killer: Ifrit


    Human
    Common Enemies: Soldiers, Sergeants, Thieves, Gigas, Goblin, Wizard, Veritas of the Dark, Flamesblade, Shiva, Ramuh(?)
    Facts: Common types of enemies in the game, mostly has a connection with the games' antagonists or serves has common sub-bosses. Majority of the enemies in this category are immune to Stone.
    Weakness: Man-Eater
    Units with Man-Eater: Shadow, Cloud of Darkness, Garland, Russell, Artemios(?)


    Machina
    Common Enemies: Magitek Armor, Searchers, Centipede, Epimetheus, Io, Europa
    Facts: Machines, manned and unmanned mechas and insects that look like machines. They fire lasers, can blind opponents or do monumental damage. Several of these machines are affiliated with Thunder elements and can utilize hybrid attacks.
    Weakness: Thunder or Water elements, Machine Killer
    Immunities: Poison or Stone
    Units with Machine Killer: King Giott
    Trust Master Reward: Edgar


    Demon
    Common Enemies: Floateye, Imp, Bomb, Hunger, Basilisk, Medusa, Diabolos(?)
    Facts: Truly one of the deadliest types of enemies in the game. They have a wide array of attacks and resistances. While some inflicts multiple status ailments, always have a White Mage or a reliable status cleansing unit. Imps are resistant to most magic attacks.
    Weakness: Demon Killer, Ice element (Bombs and Basilisk), Light element (for most Demons)
    Units with Demon Killer: Cecil, Clyne, Artemios(?)


    Reaper
    Common Enemies: Bone Dragon, Mahadeva, Souls, Primevil, Poplium, Zombie
    Facts: Majority of the enemies in the group are Undead monsters. Truly unholy and they fear of Light elemental attacks.
    Weakness: Recovery Magic, Fire and Light elements, Undead Killer
    Resistance: Instant Death, Dark element, several status ailments.


    Fairy
    Common Enemies: Wisps, Elementals, Damia, Skadi, Undine, Wandering One, Abhorrent One, Carbuncle(?)
    Facts: This is not Pokemon, and its not even some other game you seem to know. They are magical creatures that harness the power of the Element they wield or use. They are mostly ethereal in nature.
    Weakness: Opposing Elements (Fire =/= Ice, Wind =/= Earth, Water =/= Lightning, Light =/= Dark)
    Resistances: Same as above
    Immunities: Elements that are innate with (i.e.: Wandering One who is Fire based is immune to Fire attacks)


    Dragon
    Common Enemies: Dragons, Dinosaurs, Frost Dragon, White Dragon
    Facts: Easily one of the toughest enemy types you will face in the game. If you know your game right, you can beat them right!
    Weakness: Ice element (for some), Dragon Killer
    Resistance: Multiple, from elements to status ailments.
    Immunities: Instant Death (for most), Elements that they are innate with.
    Units with Dragon Killer: Kain
    Trust Master Reward: Skaha

    I love fighting with Elementals and Bombs... FFVIII life, yo!

    Fun Fact: Flans in FFIV are immune to Dark Knight Cecil's Dark (Souleater)/Darkness buff

    P.S.: Help me expand/improve this since some of you guys play the Japan version! I may have missed something. ;)
