I've decided to start creating guides on units and their roles so that these guides can help veterans and new players know what they can aim, how to know how which unit works well with which unit, and to help new players who may not get the strong units to know which friend summon units are good until they get better ones. For my first guide, I want to talk about my favorite role, the healers. These will be the top units, the honorable mentions and friend summon units to use if you do not have the others.

(P.S. I know that there is a unit review made by Jet for the units, but I want to give more detail on what each one of us can do with them in their role and to the fullest as well. I will include a link to Jet's unit review to save me time in term of stats. This guide will be updated as more and more unit healers comes out and please give me time to update the guide. I am in college and giving in a detailed guide to help veterans and new players means to invest in the time).

    Top Healers:
    #1/2: Refia

    Unit Review Link
    : http://brave-exvius.com/threads/unit-overview-refia-final-fantasy-3.4555/

As of now, she is the top healer in GL (Global) to-date. Because she will have a high MP pool to begin with, She will have nothing to worry about in terms of healing. In addition, she carries the HP 30% passive on her so she is easily able to hit over 3K worth of HP. Her main stats which a player should focus on when equipping her with materia are those that gives SPR, MP and/or Def. A Dualcast (TMR from Ludmille) is also good to double cast Esuna and curaja.

Pros: Can use Curaja, Esuna, and revive an ally fully with Full-Life.
Immune to stone, petrify, confuse, paralyze, and silence through passive, Kazus' Pendant.
    Can remove petrify with Stona.
Buff ATK and Def by 45% with Embolden.
    Carries an HP10% passive.
LB removes ALL status ailments and boost DEF.

Cons: Does not have Cleanse and will have to rely on LB to remove disease.
Can be put to sleep to prevent her from healing or made weaker through disease.

    Staffs:
The best staff is the Magi Staff with 70 SPR(TMR from Lenna) .The 2nd best staff in-game is the Golden Staff (Won inside the Coliseum and the Crystal Tower limited Event). If you're in a rush, then get the Rune Staff in the story from a chest or the Golem's Staff.
Head: Since she has the Kazu Pendant, for hats, you can equip the Black Cowl hat on her since it not only gives her good Def and SPR but also the Sleep resistance ability (Can get this hat from Hayate as a TMR) so she will have one less status ailment to worry about. If not, then a Circlet or Chapeau (gives MP) will help her.
Clothes, Robes & Armor: The Minerva Bustier (TMR from Celes) is wonders for Refia and to protect her even more. It gives her high def, the SPR, but also fire, lightning, wind and ice resistance by 30%. You'll make her tanky. Because of this, you can make this work with the elemental rings to increase her elemental resistance even more. If you're looking for a different route, then the Lordly Robes (TMR from Alma unit)are another option. MAG (Although smaller) contributes to the healing a bit, but the Auto-Protect and Auto-Shell can really help Refia survive even longer. If you did not get Alma to TMR farm her, then the Magi Robe is another alternative. These clothes, robes and armor are mainly the best one to use for healers so I am mainly going to tell you to refer to this section for great armor.
Accessories: If you want her to be more resistant to status ailments, then you can equip the Ribbon (TMR from Kefka) so she can be resistant to the rest. You can also equip the elemental rings on her (Works wonders with Minverva Bustier) so she can be more resistant to elemental damage. An Angel Ring can also help because it will give her an Auto-Regen to heal her. These accessories can also be used with the other healers as well so I am most likely will tell you to refer to this section for accessories.

    Unit Synergy:

    [IMG][IMG] [IMG] [IMG][IMG]

Refia does have Esuna and she has a wonderful LB which cures all status ailments on the party and boosts their defense. But what if more than one unit has the status ailments and her LB gauge is not full yet? She does not want to waste any time. The Cloud of Darkness' Comeback will heal the common status ailments, allowing Refia not to worry to use Esuna unless needed and to focus on healing. Plus, CoD's Omni-Veil boosts elemental resistance so if Refia is using armor such as Minerva Bustier, she will be super resistant alongside with CoD.

Cecil and Charlotte are her guardians. Cecil and Charlotte can boost SPR with Focus and Shellga and they have a high chance to go in and protect her from a single-target attack. In addition to Charlotte, her shield, Patriot, gives her the ability to remove status ailments from all allies like CoD. Cecil on the other hand, can be a secondary healer with curaja in case it comes down to Refia having to take a turn to recast Embolden or to use Esuna.

I honestly see Rosa underrated and a great unit. She can be a secondary healer alongside with Refia. Even though Refia have Esuna, she does not remove petrify or disease, which Rosa can do. Not only that, Rosa can restore MP to the whole party with Bless and with her LB, meaning she can keep Refia supplied and waste less time in using items to restore MP, but also focus on the healing aspect as well. Noctis works well alongside Refia since he too can recover MP with Cover. He can also revive an ally to full health so having the two of them together means having a better chance at surviving.
    #1/2: Luka
    Unit Review Link: http://brave-exvius.com/threads/unit-overview-luka-final-fantasy-be.8336/
    [IMG]

Luka and Refia are literally on the same level. Refia buffs ATK and DEF, but Luka buffs DEF and SPR. Luka is as good as Refia. Luka's Priestess' Miracle is a combination of both Curaja and Esuna (Or CoD's Comeback) for the whole party. Her Regenerate is also a Curaja-version of Regen. She also can regain her own HP and MP through her Aqua Refresh. Luka can revive an ally, but not to full health like Refia. What is interesting is Luka can inflict damage with her water spell. Refia can be seen as a healer to be used on a physical-based team while Luka is seen to be used in a defense-based team. MP% and SPR% materia are the main materia to allow Luka to heal higher and to continue healing. To survive longer, feel free to put on her HP% or DEF% materia to take less damage.

Pros: Priestess' Miracle heals party's HP and removes status ailments.
Regenerate is a Curaja-version of Regen.
    Can revive an ally.
Most of her abilities, including Priestess' Miracle and Regenerate, are skills, meaning even if silenced, can still cast those spells.
Buff DEF and SPR of team through Deep Blue.
Boost team's water resistance through Water Barrier.
Recovers HP and MP through Aqua Refresh.
Removes disease and petrify through Cleanse and Stona.
    LB heals and boosts SPR.

Cons: No passive to protect her like Refia does, meaning she's susceptible to petrify.

    Esper Synergy: Carbuncle

Gives Luka along with her Water Barrier ability bar-spells to boost more element resistances, more MP, a Cura and the Last Stand passive.

Unit Synergy: Cecil, Rosa, Vanille, Ramza, Noctis, CoD

Cecil can work with Luka as a secondary healer while also protecting her. Rosa can also be an additional MP-Queen to the party. Vanille can help Luka more with reviving with her auto-revive "Keep It Up", Ramza can be more of a stat booster to help boost ATK and MAG and CoD can help boost up elemental resistances. CoD also do not have to worry about using Comeback because Luka got that one covered. Noctis also can boost the other stats of ATK and MAG which Luka cannot do and also contribute to the healing of HP and MP with Cover as well as reviving allies with ComeBack.

    #3: Santa Roselia
    Unit Review Link: http://brave-exvius.com/threads/unit-overview-santa-roselia-ffbe-christmas.7496/#post-137542
    [IMG]

Christmas-Exclusive GL Unit only. A Very special Christmas for you AND me! A better version of Roselia! As of now, she has the highest SPR in the game with the SPR+20% and the Heart of Conviction passive, giving her another 30%SPR and increasing her LB gauge by 1! She can even turn it up by using Healer's Resolve to give herself another 60% SPR in exchange for 40% ATK. That is 110% SPR in total while in battle! A great thing about her is she can counter VERY WELL! If she is attacked, she can either heal herself, heal the whole team or boost her resistance to 100% for two turns! She also can remove ALL status ailments (Except Stop) in the game! She can even give her own LB to someone as well too with Entrust! If she had a revive spell, she would easily overthrow Refia in a heartbeat! Building SPR% materia means stronger heals. Equipping her with MP% materia can help too.

Pros: Curaja, Esuna, Stona, and Cleanse.
If hit, can counter by removing all ailments and boost all of her resistance by 100% for 2 turns!
If hit, can counter by healing self or to allies!
LB heals, removes all status ailments, and boost SPR!
Passive increases her SPR and increases her LB gauge. Can also Entrust her LB to someone.
Can increase her SPR even more through Healer's Resolve in exchange for ATK.

Cons: Is susceptible to silence, petrify and stone.
IS mostly selfish; she can take selfies.

    Esper Synergy: Carbuncle

To allow SR take on more of a support role, Carbuncle can give her barmagic spells and can also give her the Last Stand ability.

Unit Synergy: Cecil, Refia, Noctis, Rosa, Tilith, Charlotte, CoD, Vanille

These units will help her in term of buffing, secondary healing and/or protecting her.

#4: Tilith (Grand Gaia Event Limited)

    Unit Review Link: http://brave-exvius.com/threads/unit-overview-tilith-brave-frontier.4792/

For those who were able to pull Tilith during the Grand Gaia Event, congrats (Wish I was able to pull her; Pulled Elza instead)! Be prepared for her 6* in the future because once that happens, she will kick Refia to the curve for #1 spot (And I will update Tilith once that time comes). She is a nice unit at 5*. The worse thing about Tilith is she is unable to equip any weapon. Because of this, she loses out on SPR and damage she could've got for her Prism Heart. Not only that, she uses a lot of MP. The recommendation for the materia she should equip should be one that focuses on her SPR, Def and/or MP. Tilith fits well in a team to get things done within 1-3 turns at 5*.

Pros: Heals and removes status ailments with Goddess' Miracle.
Recovers own health with Pretty Aura.
Can boosts all stats by 40% and also can boost element resistances.
LB heals, removes poison, silence and paralyze and increase an ally's LB guage for 3 turns.

Cons: As a 5*, cannot remove disease or stone without Cleanse or Stona.
Use a lot of MP through buffs over 50MP.

    Clothes, Robes & Armor:
(Look at Refia's section about Clothes and Robes. Is the same).
Accessories: Ribbons would be nice to keep her resistant to all ailments. A Defender's Bracer is also nice to help her for more defense and SPR.

    Esper Synergy: Carbuncle

Carbuncle will give her bar spells as an alternative so she will not spend over 50MP on her own element skill. Plus, Carbuncle gives her the Last Stand passive.

    Unit Synergy:

    [IMG][IMG] [IMG]

Tilith at 5* use up too much MP because of her buffs, which is around 50. A secondary healer such as Rosa can help her keep the MP up and also help out with the healing should you ever want to keep buffs up. Also, do know her Celestial Light only lasts for two turns so if you really want to keep that buff up, then Rosa should be in there to help with the MP and healing. Noctis can help with MP recovery and can fully revive an ally.

If you do not want Tilith to waste so much MP with Celestial Light to boost stats, Ramza can cover that with Cheer and/or Hero's Rime. He can also Entrust his LB to Tilith if you want to.

    #5: Krile
    Unit Review Link: http://brave-exvius.com/threads/unit-overview-krile-final-fantasy-5.393/
    [IMG]

Krile is the one healer and mage to actually be able to heal and do damage at the same time with a learned Dualcast (I have two of her so I can't wait to see what would happen if I use 2 Kriles in a team). Her Dual Front is also nice, because if she equips staffs, she will gain a 30% bonus to MAG so this is more of an advantage than a disadvantage. In addition, she can equip light shields and light armor, meaning she can survive a bit longer. Her main stats are MAG and SPR and MAG (Although smaller) still will contribute to her healing. If you want to go more of the damage-dealing route, then equip MAG % materias. If you want more healing, then SPR %. For a bigger MP Pool, MP % and if you want her to be tankier because of her ability to use shields and armor, then more Def % materias. If you want her to be able to remove status ailments, then Esuna (TMR from Maria) will work.

Pros: With dualcast, can heal the whole party to full health with Curaja.
Can do combos through dualcast with Curaja + Curaja, Curaja + black magic, Curaja + Dispel.

Cons: Unable to remove any status ailments.
Convert may easily get her killed on enemy's turn.
    No MP% and SPR% passives.

    Head:
Because of the fact, she can wear helms, she can equip the Survivor's Helm (Won from the Coloseum) for more Def, Spr, and for elemental resistance to ice, earth and dark. If you want more of the magical route, then a Cat's Hat (TMR from limited Unit Black Cat Lid) or a Chapeau would work.
Clothes, Robes & Armor: (Check Refia's section. Is the same).
Accessories: If you want more of the damage route, a Genji Glove (TMR from Gilgamesh) and Earrings would help. For healing purposes, Defender's Bracer will help.

    Esper Synergy: Carbuncle

Because of dualcast, Krile can also make use of the bar-green magic from Carbuncle. Which means she can put up two elemental resistances up for the team at once. Plus, Last Stand can help Krile whenever she drops below 30% to boost her Def and SPR.

    Unit Synergy:

    [IMG][IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

What Krile is unable to do about the status ailments, CoD is able to handle with Comeback.

Honestly, why Rosa is so good at what she does and in working together with other units? Krile may spend dualcast but Rosa can be there to help with the MP and also for the removal of status ailments and to allow Krile to continue casting spells. If you want Krile to take on more of a damage-dealing role, Rosa can take on more of the healing role so it can go either way with the team.

Wonderful and powerful tanks. Cecil can use Focus and Charlotte with her Shellga to help Krile out with her MAG and SPR. Plus, they can protect her as well. As for Bartz, he is able to reduce an enemy's wind resistance, allowing her to deal more damage with Aeroga if she switches from healing to damage dealing. In addition, they can elemental chain together with their wind skills.

    Honorable Mentions
    Rosa:

    Unit Review Link: http://brave-exvius.com/threads/unit-overview-rosa-final-fantasy-4.2063/
Rosa has a great synergy to any team and fit in any spot to keep the team going all because she can allow the team to continue use more magic, skills and is able to remove all status ailments. I understand about Lenna using Cheer for buffs but when it comes to healing as a whole, Rosa is even able to keep her MP up. She is made to be a regen and in addition, the only unit right now to use Dispelga. Materias to include should be either SPR %, Def % if you want her to take less damage and/or MP % to cast more spells if you're worry about her MP pool. If you're the type who, for whatever reason, would like to turn her into a "Battle Healer", then you can test and see what ATK % would do for her since she does carry attack skills.

Pros: Curaja, Esuna, Cleanse and Stona.
    Recovers MP with Bless.
    IN explorations, recovers MP.
Recovers HP and MP with LB move.
    ONLY UNIT to carry dispelga.

    Cons:
Will be used more for healing than to use her for attack skills.
Susceptible to silence, paralyze and petrify.
    Delay on Charge Shot.

Weapons: Like she does in the game, she can equip bows. Therefore, she can equip her TMR, Goddess Bow, or the White Witch Fina's TMR weapon, Blessed Bow. Both of them gives Spr. It definitely would work if you're the one who would like to test to see much damage she can contribute from the passive Killer's effect if she has nothing else to do as far as healing. Other than that, if you do not want, then equip staffs on her.
Clothes, Robes & Armor: (Check Refia's section on it. It is the same).
Accessories: (Pretty much the same like the other healers).

    Esper Synergy: Carbuncle

I find it petty in the unit review about Rosa not being able to use Cura (Due to the fact it is completely obsolete to curaja, which Rosa carries at 5*). For those who wants to heal the whole party earlier, then get Carbuncle. He learns Cura and can also give Rosa bar-green spells to cast in battle as well and contributes to healing through his high SPR.

    Unit Synergy:

    [IMG][IMG] [IMG]

Rosa does not have enough time to cast Esuna? Let CoD handle the status ailments with Comeback. Rosa will return the favor and Bless her in exchange. They can work together since CoD will mainly rely on dealing damage through Call of the Void and Barrage and Rosa can help her keep the MP pool up.

Rosa with her lover would be wonderful. Cecil with Focus to help her with healing and can work as a secondary healer while at the same time be protected by Cecil. Charlotte can help Rosa with Shellga and with her future shield, Charlotte will help the whole team to remove status ailments.

While Rosa gives the healing and MP, Ramza can help Rosa with the buffs and deal damage. Plus, Rosa's bless will stack on top of Ramza's Auto-Refresh. Ramza can also entrust his LB to Rosa so she can heal the whole team's health and MP once again.

    Lenna:

    Unit Review Link: http://brave-exvius.com/threads/unit-overview-lenna-final-fantasy-5.1408/

Lenna is very good. A curaja, heal and a cheer as well to help the whole team in ATK and Def for 3 turns. Lenna fits well in a melee-based team. Recommended materias to equip should be SPR %, Def % if you want her take less damage and/or MP%. Feel free to put a Dualcast materia on her so she is able to heal the team to full health.

Pros: Boost team with Cheer by 40% in ATK and DEF.
    Curaja and Esuna.
    LB heals and increases MAG.

Cons: Does not carry Cleanse or Stona.
LB increasing MAG does not mean she is effective in dealing damage with Banish.

    Great Equipments:

(It is pretty much the same like the other healers I have mentioned in terms of the head, body and accessories. Check the other unit sections).

    Esper Synergy: Carbuncle

Whenever she does not have to heal, she can pop a bar-spell. Plus, the Last Stand ability if her HP drops below 30%.

    Unit Synergy:

    [IMG][IMG][IMG] [IMG]

All I can say is, what a Comeback! Plus, Lenna helps CoD with her Cheer so she can eat away at humanity.

Just fits in any role. Lenna cheers to give Rosa some better Def but Rosa can be the secondary healer, remove the stone and disease and also can supply Lenna with MP. Cecil and Charlotte will continue to protect any and all healers no matter what. Focus, Shellga, protect and defend.

    Roselia:

    Unit Review Link: http://brave-exvius.com/threads/unit-overview-roselia-final-fantasy-be.349/

Roselia was the first pure healer in the game in the very beginning and the first to use Curaja for all to follow. What is nice about Roselia is she is able to equip light shields; what sucks is she does not have Esuna (Which you could equip the spell on her and her LB is a healing Esuna); she can cure stone and diseases though! All she does is heal and heal and heal some more. As always, SPR % and MP% should be focused to give her more healing prowess and if you want to make her tanky, equip Def % materias on her.

    Pros:
    Curaja, Stona and Cleanse.
LB heals and acts as an Esuna.

    Cons:
Does not have Esuna; will waste turn removing one status ailment at a time.
Susceptible to silence, paralyze and petrify.

    Great Equipments:

    (Look at Refia's section).

    Esper Synergy: Carbuncle

Thanks to Carbuncle, Roselia can be made even more useful, even on the first turn. Carbuncle can teach Roselia Dispel and can also allow Roselia use bar-magic spells for the team to use. Real good if Roselia's the best healer you have at the moment.

    Unit Synergy:

I honestly do not believe I will get tired of putting up Rosa. You can have Roselia for the healing and Rosa to do the MP regen and to also use Esuna in her place.

    [IMG][IMG] [IMG]

Same thing in the other sections.

    Garnet:

    Unit Review Link: http://brave-exvius.com/threads/unit-overview-garnet-final-fantasy-9.1905/

Another healer in her own right. She is actually a good healer and she carries Raise. Downside: She cannot remove any status ailment so if you want her to do that, you must equip the Esuna materia on her so she can use it. A nice thing about Garnet is she is able to equip green materia. Another thing about her is that since she is a summoner, she is able to boost the strength of the espers in battle when they are summoned by her and there are tricks to her in that aspect. SPR % and MP% materias should be the main materias for healing. If you want to rely on esper damage, then put in EVO MAG% materias. For her to survive a bit longer, put in Def% materias.

    Pros:
    Curaja.
    Can revive with Raise.
Carries SPR%30 and an MP% passive as well.
Evo MAG 40% and LB increases Esper gauge as well.

    Cons:
    No status ailment removal spells.

    Great Equipments:

    (Refer to Refia's section).

Esper Synergy: Siren, Ifrit, Shiva, Ramuh, Diabolos, Carbuncle

Garnet's EVO MAG % passive boosts an Esper's strength when summoned so any one of the espers that deals damage will help when summoning and can work well in elemental chaining. If you want Garnet to be pure healer and support, then Carbuncle is the best Esper. Carbuncle has the highest SPR at max level to date and can give 1% of that to her. In addition, Garnet can also make use of the Bar-green spell abilities as well.

    Unit Synergy:

If you really want to make use of your summons more, then Rydia and Golbez would make a good addition as a summoner. Rydia has the EVO MAG passives like Rydia and her LB also charges up the summon gauge. Since Rydia has an EVO MAG 60% through her passives and Garnet only EVO MAG 40%, then you can let Garnet use Carbuncle and Rydia and Golbez use a damage-dealing esper.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

For those who really want to rely on the gauges and summonings, then these units will be best. They all can use Entrust. Bartz not only can Entrust, but if Garnet is suffering, can use Life Giver to completely heal her in exchange for his life, which in turn Garnet can revive him with Raise. Fina can be the secondary healer to Garnet (If you did not draw WWFina during the Halloween event) and use Cheer. If you do have WWFina, then you're good to go since she can Entrust, use Ritual to even restore Garnet's MP and also use Raise as well. Ramza can help Garnet in terms of buff to help push Garnet's stats higher.

Rosa supplies the MP and also can remove status ailments. If anything happens to Rosa, Garnet can use Raise.

    [IMG][IMG] [IMG]

CoD every time always "Comeback". As for Cecil and Charlotte, they do so much as far as tanking and supporting for healers, I really do not have to repeat myself. Look in the earlier sections about the other healers about them.

White Witch Fina (From Halloween limited event):

    Unit Review Link: http://brave-exvius.com/threads/unit-overview-white-witch-fina-ffbe-halloween.4171/

A stronger version of Fina literally. Carries a Raise but she does not have Curaja. Instead, she has Ritual, which heals everyone 30% of their maximum HP and 10% of their Max MP... except herself. However, if you were able to buy a lot of exclusive Chilling Aura abilities during the event, you can give her more HP and MP to stay longer in battle. If you do not have the exclusive Aura materias, then focus on using SPR%, MP%, or for survival, Def%.

    Pros:
SPR and MP% passive totals 30%.
Can use Cheer and Entrust to someone's LB gauge.
Can revive with Raise and can use Cleanse.
    Ritual spell.

    Cons:
Ritual skill is a fixed 30% and MP 10% healing rate and costs 60MP to use it. Plus, it will not heal WW Fina.
    No Curaja, Esuna or Stona.

    Weapons:
She can equip a bow like Rosa so she can take advantage of the killer effects and the SPR. Other than that, staffs are the way to go if she is not going to attack as much.
Clothes, Robes & Armor: (Check Refia's section).

    Unit Synergy:

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Doing what they do best. Not going to repeat myself.

    Cecil
    Unit Review Link: http://brave-exvius.com/threads/unit-overview-cecil-final-fantasy-4.343/
    [IMG]

A tank who can heals. That is all. Honestly, Cecil with Curaja made him a secondary healer real quick. Not a main healer but a good one who can also buff with Focus to improve his healing. Plus, he has a high defense anyway so he does not have to worry about dying and will run to protect the main healer anyway. If you want to make him even tankier, go for Def % materias. HP% materias will boost his HP even higher. If you want to help him focus on his healing and take less magic damage, then put on SPR% materias.

    Pros:
    Curaja.
    HP% and DEF% passives.
Can use Focus to boost SPR.

    Cons:
Does not remove status ailment; not a replacement for healers.
    No SPR% or MP% passive.

    Weapons:
There's only one weapon that can dedicate him for more SPR and that is the Blood Sword. You can win the recipe in the Advanced Colisseum; it will take some time to win the items in the Colisseum followed up with 1 hour to craft it.
Shields: The Force Shield and Aegis Shield (TMR from Leo) are the only two shield that can greatly contribute to Cecil in terms of Def and SPR. In addition, the Force Shield gives him elemental resistance while the Aegis Shield gives him complete immunity to Petrify.
Helms & Armor: The only helm that can give SPR is the Survivor Helm won in the Colisseum. As for heavy armor, the Force Armor is the best one, giving also elemental resistance. Can be won from the Greater Daemon trial boss.

    Esper Synergy: Golem, Carbuncle

One may end up putting Golem on Cecil over Carbuncle. Cecil is a tank so putting Golem on him allows him to have access to provoke and make him a solid boulder, more so with Last Stand. For those who wants him to have more activity in healing and supporting, Carbuncle can help with that. Carbuncle also carries Last stand. It depends on what you desire out of him.

Ingus is a decent healer. He can use Cura and Curaga but he can also use some black magic as well as Esuna. He also can use Full Break as well, meaning he can work well in any team.

    Pros:
    Esuna.

    Cons:

    No Curaja, Stona or Cleanse.
    No MP% or SPR% passive.
Convert may get him killed the next turn.

    Esper Synergy:

Carbuncle: Can give him the bar-spells and also Dispel to let him become more of a healer and support.

    Unit Synergy:

Healers for Beginners... or you do not have much

    Vanille:

I am highly upset. In FFXIII, she is a great healer, but they downgraded her in this game. There are ways to make her better though, and she has a great TMR. She can use Cheer and Focus but... um... why spend almost 100 MP and two turns in order to use them? To strengthen her, I highly recommend for one to take advantage of the Hanging Edge event. Get the Defender's materia and place it on her to boost her DEF and SPR. Because of the fact she does not carry curaja, you can attempt in equipping Dualcast onto her so she will not... fall off so bad...

Edit: Someone named @Karn found this about Vanille. Thank you for the find! "Keep it Up" is an Global exclusive ability. This makes her the only healer as of now to give an auto-revive status to an ally.

    Pros:

Auto-Revive with Keep it Up on any ally and can use Esuna.
    Can use Cheer and Focus.
Access to exclusive materia, Attacker and Defender.
Access to exclusive weapon, Malboro's Staff.

    Cons:
    No Curaja.
Can spend a lot of MP from using both Cheer and Focus.

    Weapons:
The exclusive Malboro's Wand is pretty nice. 60 SPR and can inflict Blind and poison. In addition, she can also also use Jinx to inflict 100% disease (Why it is physical and not magical, I have no idea. Only makes her awkward and people feel more negative towards her).
Clothes, Robes & Armor: (Check Refia's Section)

    Esper Synergy: Carbuncle

She's hurting so Carbuncle can help her with more SPR, give her Dispel and some bar-green magic.

    Unit Synergy:

[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

You want to take advantage of Vanille's LB? Well, have fun using Bartz and Ramza. They can entrust and Ramza can also buff, which means you do not have to worry about Vanille wasting her energy to take care of that aspect... and save MP so she will not become a hindrance.

    Anastasis:

Anastasis is a good, beginning healer and for the beginning stages of the game, I recommend him. At 3*, he carries cura and his LB is an Esuna. Good for the beginning stages of the game until you grab Fina.

    Fina:

A free healer you can grab in-game during the storyline. She also carries Cheer and Curaga. She was good for a while during the beginning and some of the mid stages of the game and she can work as a secondary healer for one such as Roselia

I agree Rosa is underrated, she is very helpful on long drawn fights like the Antenolla battle. Very informative guide by the way! ::kupo::

Thank you. I have finished the guide.

    Update:

Added in an "Esper Synergy" for healers who greatly gain more from certain espers.

TL;DR: Refia has stona, I use her to cure petrified in arena a lot.

I don't waste my accessory slots for elemental protection, she has super high spr magic won't hurt her much, instead I give her muscle belt and moon bracer, and for ability slots, I give her dual cast and 3 hp+15%, that's how I get her tanky.

@JimmyL she may have high spr, but what about her defense? If you fight in the arena, physical fighters like Lightning can use physical elemental damage to hurt her, which is why elemental protection can make all of that void. Those are situations like that one should keep in mind if ever face such a challenge.

Actually HP is much more important when facing aoe attackers in arena because their dmg is capped at 999, the important element protection is light and dark since everyone is either using Excalibur or deathbringer, so boosting fire/ice/lightning resist won't help much, for example this week refia has bonus she has 6.5k hp in arena with my setup, no one ever killed her even I go second and lose 1 unit or 2 I can dual cast full life and smash the shit out of them, if I go first I kill most of them before they can act.

Alma is not limited. She is still in the unit pool together with Ramza and Delita.

That is understandable in the top tier. Building up element against holy and darkness can still help but it differs for each person. You think more in term of the arena, which is fine. I was thinking in terms of Refia being able to heal as much as she can and to survive as much as possible. However, everyone will be building their units so differently and this guide as well as the other unit guides I will be creating is mainly meant to show one how to build and use them to their full capacity even against tough events and bosses. Your Refia is very nice though! My Refia's HP is 4.5K and I'm a F2P.

Update: Added in Ingus as an Honorable Mention.

Woohoo! Rosa finally getting some love. She pretty much carried my team's butt in every event since I got her. I had to bench Tillith, as I don't do "tons of damage" to wipe out everything in 3-4 turns. 2 tanks really hurt DPS but man, they make sure nothing get's KO'd. Also, I always find it funny when Cecil goes to protect his wife but then WoL charges off to protect Cecil.
