    Disclaimer: I will work with simple numbers and as source I will run the Unit Calculator since the damage maths etc. are all implemented in there and it's much easier this way.

    This Thread will be about some units and their Break-Percentages and how much they differ from each other!

    But what units do we have with which percentages?

    Offensive Breaks: DEF/SPR
    • 30% old Noctis
    • 40% Delita (DEF or SPR), Knight Delita (DEF), Meliadoul (DEF/SPR)
    • 45% Warrior of Light (DEF/SPR), Noctis, Ling (DEF/SPR, GL)
    • 50% 9S (ATK/DEF or MAG/SPR), Elza (DEF/SPR), CG Lid (DEF/SPR)
    • 55% Enhanced Elza +1 (DEF/SPR)
    • 59% Timothy (Fullbreak)
    • 60% Enhanced Elza +2 (DEF/SPR), Enhanced Delita (JP), CG Lid (DEF or SPR, JP)
    • 64% Bran (DEF/SPR)
    • 65% Enhanced Delita (GL)
    • 70% CG Lid 6* (Fullbreak, JP)
    • 74% Light Veritas (DEF/SPR), Lorraine 7* (Fullbreak, JP)
    • 79% CG Lid 7* (Fullbreak, JP)
    • 84% MH Fina (DEF, JP), CG Lid 7* (Random, JP)
    Defensive Breaks: ATK/MAG
    • 30% old Noctis
    • 40% Ramza (ATK or MAG), Knight Delita (ATK/MAG or ATK), Orlandeau (ATK/MAG), Meliadoul (ATK/MAG)
    • 45% Warrior of Light (ATK/MAG), Noctis, Ling (ATK/MAG, GL)
    • 50% 9S (ATK/DEF or MAG/SPR), CG Lid (ATK/MAG, JP)
    • 55% -
    • 59% Timothy (Fullbreak)
    • 60% CG Lid (ATK or MAG), Enhanced Ramza (ATK or MAG, JP)
    • 64% Knight Delita (ATK/MAG), Beatrix (ATK/MAG, JP)
    • 70% CG Lid (Fullbreak, JP), Lorraine 7* (Fullbreak, JP)
    • 74% Knight Delita 7* (ATK/DEF/MAG, JP), Lorraine 7* (Fullbreak JP)
    • 79% CG Lid 7* (Fullbreak, JP)
    • 84% CG Lid 7* (Random, JP)
    This will cover all these different numbers since these are basically all existing ones. There are 15% breaks as well, but let's be honest, they are pretty much useless. So I will start with the lowest (30%) and move up to the highest ones.
    IN BEFORE: CG Lid is the best breaker if you wondered and has the highest ATK/MAG break in the current japanese version of the game FFBE.

    So let's get started!

    The Monster we will use in theory has: 100 ATK, 100 DEF, 100 MAG and 100 SPR.
    Our Unit will have 100 ATK , 100 DEF, 100 MAG and 100 SPR.

    Since DEF/SPR and ATK/MAG are basically the same in terms of break values, I will split it into offensive and defensive breaks. The way I use the stats is just the easiest way to calculate it. The percentages won't change with higher stats or anything, but 100 is a really easy value to use if it comes down to calculating percentages.
    Offensive breaks are DEF and SPR breaks.
    Defensive breaks are ATK and MAG breaks.

    ALL THE FOLLOWING PERCENTAGES ARE ROUNDED.

    Offensive Breaks: DEF/SPR
    • 0% ~ 185 Damage
    • 30% ~ 264 -> 42% increase
    • 40% ~ 308 -> 66%
    • 45% ~ 336 -> 81%
    • 50% ~ 370 -> 100%
    • 55% ~ 411 -> 122%
    • 59% ~ 451 -> 143%
    • 60% ~ 462 -> 149%
    • 64% ~ 513 -> 177%
    • 65% ~ 528 -> 185%
    • 70% ~ 616 -> 232%
    • 74% ~ 711 -> 284%
    • 79% ~ 880 -> 376%
    • 84% ~ 1158 -> 525%
    So we can see, the percentages work exponential which means already from 59% to 60% DEF/SPR breaks, we receive a whopping 6% increase in damage. Which means, Light Veritas' max LB (as long as the enemy can be broken) increases your physical and magic DPS by 284%, that's a lot. But what about the ATK/MAG breaks?

    Defensive Breaks: ATK/MAG
    • 0% ~ 185 Damage received
    • 30% ~ 90 -> 52% decrease
    • 40% ~ 66 -> 65%
    • 45% ~ 55 -> 71%
    • 50% ~ 46 -> 76%
    • 55% ~ 37 -> 80%
    • 59% ~ 31 -> 84%
    • 60% ~ 29 -> 86%
    • 64% ~ 23 -> 88%
    • 70% ~ 16 -> 92%
    • 74% ~ 8 -> 93%
    • 79% ~ 7.5 -> 94%
    • 84% ~ 4.625 -> 97%
    So, unlike the exponential DEF/SPR breaks, this is the exact opposite. The higher the break, the less increase in damage reduction you will get. But keep in mind, ATK/MAG breaks are basically always inflictable compared to DEF/SPR breaks and provide survivability. And what do you have to do first in order to inflict damage? Survive. I have to be really precised in higher ATK % breaks.

    I really hope this thread could help you understand what breakers are capable of and how they perform compared to other, lower or stronger breaks.
    Have a nice day!

    Breaks matter more than buffs (if they work). That said, they stack, so yay for big numbers!

    Thanks for this another awesome thread.

    When I started a year ago, everyone was talking about how Vaan was useful thanks to his breaks. I didnt really bother at that time. Took me a couple of weeks to get him and I've always been using breaks since then.

    A fight without a break is like a new unit without a Memey's review, it sucks :P

    The results aren't such either. The trick is that there is a vertical asymptote. It's really similar to the function (x)^(-1)

    But with some reflection of the above function on the interval (0,1] over the vertical line at 1/2

    Still shit. Rely lb to do such important job as a breaker for only a small margin that can be easily fixed by something else more usefull like a bard. Not to talk about the insane amount of lb pots neededs to max her lb just for a little margin of upgrade compared to her others skills (breaks) and her skills breaks can be fullfilled by others units who already have 60% breaks in their kits or units with breaks(less %) but also can do another role like WOL/DV and so many others.

    No matter how much you look at it. I'm not going to waste an unit slot for a dedicated breaker when i have plenty of units who can do the same (obviously with less % break) but also something else.

    Don't get me wrong, breaks are sometimes the key to win a battle, but what CG Lid offers compared to other units doesn't worth the effort of even pulling for her.

    Indeed, but usually that one stat is the one that will get you to a win.
