after getting dw, which among these two weapons will benefit me more in terms of future update? I can only farm one weapon at a time so i must start at something beneficial for a long term period. Firion will be the weapon holder btw.

I would say Deathbringer because it has man eater that deals more damage to human type creatures while Excalibur is a holy weapon.

Yes agreed. If you plan on going for Orlandu (man that topic just keeps on coming, how loooong gumi?!), Excalibur is better though. Adds some more light to your attacks. :D

Not every boss will be human in future, but its ok, I would personally pick Excalibur though, there is higher chance to get enemy not resistant to holy rather than dark + You really need that Light damage sometimes and Orlandu makes good reason too. Deathbringer for me is only worth equipping on certain humans boss or arena.

Situational on which is better. But not counting bosses who are immune to dark or light then Deathbringer because of man eater.

Deathbringer has Maneater and Dark, but since those are situational(ie horrible for Dark Fina, but good for Gilgamesh), and more so than Light resist/immune bosses, Excalibur is the better weapon to go for first.

Same attack, both have an element, so same, one has maneater one doesn't, winner winner deathbringer , no contest

More than twice as many mobs(not just bosses) are resist or immune to Dark damage. And on the flip side of the coin more mobs(including bosses) are not immune or actually have a weakness to Light. Add to that Maneater is only a bonus on human units, of which the majority of mobs are not human.

The elemental damage would only be the "same" if the percentage of units immune to it was equal and they are not. A weapon that is useless the greater part of the time, especially when it comes to bosses, isn't better. Go use Deathbringer on Dark Fina and tell me how that goes for you. Maneater doesn't matter if they resist the damage. 0 damage + 50% damage is still zero damage.

Edit: You can prefer the weapon, but Excalibur is the more useful.

Currently I think it would work out(In the future..):

    Light Immunity:
    1. Maxwell
    2. Trial 9
    Dark Immunity:
    1. Dark Shiva/Dark Ifrit (Trial 8)
    2. Trial 9
    3. Dark Fina (Current event)
Outside the above, what other notable stuff either current or future (Maxwell comes back) would be added to those lists?

Deathbringer's has its place in arena. For usefulness, Excalibur is the weapon to get before DB. It's gonna be more useful when orlandude comes out...
Kinda off topic. Imperil works with elemental weapons. As long as your target is not over 100 percent resist...you can still land some damage if you use imperil prior to attacking...

Repeats of Demons Unleashed and Halloween(the more likely) for Dark, but we don't know if they will come back. Currently we have a few Story/Colosseum(Hell Rider again) bosses that are Dark Immune, but I couldn't name all of them. A few mobs from various places since a few demons are immune to that and/or fire. Light Immune I can't remember outside of Maxwell and one other boss I can't remember at the moment(Colosseum maybe).

Exvius Wiki is not an determinant what is better or not, its only rate based on ppl opinion, experience. Question was what would be more beneficient for thread owner and answer to this should be Excalibur, this is the weapon you really want to have on Gilgamesh Trial, and wont be totally useless on Dark Espers Trial, will be semi good on Europa Trial, for regular content any weapon is good for now from this two picks, Deathbringer will be more efficient on Arena. Even if overall score is boosted by man eater, for upcoming harder content i would prefer to get Excalibur first and then make Deathbringer.

You will get both eventually. Pick the one you prefer more really.
You don't NEED any of those so there's no strain on the decision.

Despite not covering light (rune sword and Durandal can do light) deathrbimger is amazing for Gilgamesh due to him being humanoid. Other ways to cover that light element to lock out Gilgameshes light attack.
