SHOULD COINHIVE BE DELETED FROM THE FORUM AGAIN?

@NeoCHI implemented the new thing at the bottom (mobile browser) or sidebar (desktop browser) called Coinhive. You can look most of it up yourself, basically it's malware that acts intrusive.

Edit: Closed for now. It got disabled, I am sure nobody wants it back either way and personally I hope it will never get implemented again.
Since it is his forum and I want to reach out as many people as possible, we not only want us to try and convince him to remove it as soon as possible, but also let you guys decide as well.

    The pros?
It would support NeoCHI in theory so he could fund things as giveaways.

    Cons?
    1. Has a very bad look on our forum
    2. Virus risks
    3. Virus notifications depending on your app / program
    4. Potential decrease of activity due to virus issues or not taking the risk
    5. Potential member registration decrease due to see above
    6. Slows down the performance
    7. Increases the battery consumption (mobile users)
    8. Can get illegal access to your device.
'It turns out that scammers quickly understood how the technology could be used in revenue making using potentially unwanted or illegal software''. ''Coinhive crypto mining maxes out the visitor's CPU''

If you don't know what I'm talking about yet, it's this:

    Regarding the virus notification:

Our moderator team already is against it, while I am against it in any ways. This forum is very precious to me and I put in a lot of time.

Simply vote with Yes or No if you agree/disagree.

Just to clarify a few things.

    1) As moderators (including Meme), we were NOT made aware of this choice PRIOR to its execution. We don't get any earning from this nor from any of our mod activities. We also have no control over the financial/support status of the forum.

    2) This program should not run automatically nor in background, since that's what @NeoCHI stated publicly in chat. So, at the very least, this point requires further clarification.

I have recently had loads of problems with virus warning etc flash up when viewing the site on mobile and no such problems on laptop. Sounds like it is almost certainly this. Or it could be all the porn I watch? But let's say it's this.

Serious answer - let's get rid.

This morning when I opened the forum Malwarebytes blocked this right away. I think this is something that should not intentionally be added to this forum unless you do not care about the technical safety of the users here.

Antivirus softwares automatically popping up when people try to access any website on the internet tends to cause them to click away from the site right away. In 2018 just from our past few years of global events cyber security has become a major issue for many, with the potential of things such as identity theft thanks to corporations like Equifax and massive credit card thefts/hacking, people tend to be nervous and quick to turn away even at the slightest sign of danger. For the future of this forum I recommend the removal of such things even if non-intrusive.

    Or in Rinny language

    I’m 100% against coin hive.

It’s malware and a potential security risk. We already had someone try to hack our accounts a while back. I wouldn’t want to see another incident.

I remember it wasn't supposed to be malware, but a way to avoid obnoxious ads and stuff at the cost of your CPU, anyways if he can prove that it's not harmful I don't see why not and there are plugins to block this kind of software

You can't expect from a user to have said plugins.

    But it is.

uBlock takes care of it for me but that still sounds like a bad thing to have around this forum.

I also got malware warning notifications since today at my laptop whenever I click at anything in the forums, and it doesn't really add to an atmosphere where I feel save.
I don't fully understand the concept of this Coinhive, but the con section meme listed is alarming at least, while the pro section is, well, not convincing at all.

So I'm totally against this thing implemented in the forums.
