    In-Depth Analysis:
    As usual, this part of the review combines both Pros and Cons, so keep that in mind as we go on. I will go over every ability and how good it is etc.

    Looking at Olive's base stats one can already tell: she has amazing base ATK with a total of 190, which is currently still the highest right after Onion Knight with 192 ATK. This makes every percentage ATK increase a lot better compared to units with e.g. 184 base ATK (Tidus) or even worse ATK.
    Though from the current perspective, the other base stats aren't even that appealing. Olive has a surprisingly low base HP for a DPS in the current state of the game with ~3.700. While this is not a huge problem at all, it's interesting to see.
    The DEF is just alright, nothing too special. The SPR is really low as well with a maximum of 128 SPR. That might be a problem for magic heavy trials since she will receive a lot more DMG from magic attacks than other meta units.

    Her equipment selection is limited, but not a real problem. This doesn't really slow her down to her own TMR Sparky, that grants 50% DH and 120 ATK with lightning element while being a gun to proc her weapon passive.
    There are a lot of armors that easily compensate her lack of e.g. heavy armor equippability such as Prishe Hat, Amelia TMR, etc.

    Olive has resistance against paralyze and confusion, which is fine. Both status ailments are pesky to deal with, especially confusion since it will basically waste her turn even if you cure it. Fine enough.

    Looking at her Destructionist passive, you'll see that she has a total a reeeally easy to get LB. It only needs 16 LB-Crysts to get to a full gauge while having 200% higher fillrate, so she fills her LB as fast as Tidus, which is really fast. Often it doesn't even take one turn to fully ramp up the whole gauge.
    And that's an important thing about her against all ST enemies. Because against one enemy, her LB has a total 8.9x modifier that can fit in a lot of chains such as Orlandeau + Dark Veritas chain if timed correctly. This makes her a lot stronger than her usual usage with abilities. So definitely try to max her LB if you seek out to play with her.

    As we learned before, Olive has a really high base ATK. And you know what she got as well?
    High ATK passives. 80% ATK passives are still pretty high today, a lot of units have 70%-80% passives so this fits just perfectly ATK wise.
    Alongside the ATK passives, Olive also gets a 50% machine killer. Niche but useful when it comes in handy. Note down though that Olive is a poor choice against Aigaion due to his thunder resistance + his arms counter really strong AoE attacks when hit with thunder elementals. Keep that in mind!
    AND talking about her already really good ATK stats, she also has an innate 75% Doublehand, which is crucial because without that, she'd be a really poor DH unit. Since GL makes it unable to stack Bartz's TMR, you will only be able to reach a max 175% Doublehand with her.
    In case you don't know what Doublehand does, it looks like this:
    [equipment ATK]*[Doublehand value] = [gained Attack]
    So if you equip a 20 ATK hat to her only and have 150% DH, your 150% DH would give you the following ATK:
    [20]*[1,5]=[30]
    So the hat in total would grant 50 ATK.

    She gets some nice additions such as 5% MP refresh and 20% HP/SPR which will make her more sustainable and she needs every SPR she can, her base SPR really isn't outstanding regarding the performance.

    Next up is Mortar Beacon. While it's free damage for no effort and will be re-used once Olive died and gets back up, I do personally not like it. Why you may ask and this isn't even a bad question.
    I do not like this move because it can mess with your strategies from time to time. This means, if you are preparing for a threshhold or do not want to damage the enemy because of whatever reason like having the boss countering on this turn, this move can really mess it up. But everybody has a different opinion about this, so don't take that for granted :).
    You can accidently hit threshholds with this easily. Won't happen too often but this concern makes this passive unappealing for me. Can't be finished either unless you use Kelsus for whatever reason.

    Now, a quick summarize why the next following moves a currently completely irrelevant and should not be used:
    - bad modifiers
    - bad utility
    - no addition to her kit
    Throw, Flash Grenade, Grapeshot, Maiming Shot.
    As long as there will not be a really handy enhancements to any of those, they will remain useless due to their bad numbers or what so ever.

    Time to get to the good moves. I will keep Heated Rounds and Napalm Grenade for a later section of this review!

    Shattering Shot currently is a really good move for her as a finisher. It grants a lot of supportive DPS aspects, which I personally like about Finishers if they have that. Which is why I loooove Fire Veritas.
    Anyway, it decreases DEF and Lightning resistance for 50% and three turns while dealing some damage.
    And if you remember correctly, her own TMR which is BiS, is thunder elemental. So you got a great synergy right here.
    If the enemy is vulnerable to DEF breaks as well, you will increase all incomming physical damage for 100%, which is a lot, basically double the amount.
    Good ability right here.

    And then there is only True shot left. Not much to say about this but it being a 480% 1-Hit modifier. Good mod, just not competitive anymore, that's why you want her LB.

    Olive overall is not meta anymore because of reasons. Her damage is subpar basically every meta unit, with her current abilities and such she will not come back.
    A major problem about that also is DH, but once we get the TDH stuff, she will still not rise because everybody else will be able to use DH stuff as well.


    Back Then?
    Olive was a gamebreaker.
    She was the unit that made DH appealing for a lot of people, her damage was basically higher than anybody's else until we got Firion's enhancements.

    Olive came really early, had really good basestats, huge ATK stats, was able to reach 1.1k ATK already and had her insane modifier with her Limit Burst while also being a def breaker + imperil unit since a lot of enemies where vulnerable to DEF back then.

    She was massive and a lot of people pulled for her due to her sheer power as finisher. I've even seen a lot of runs where they only use Olive as DPS since chains weren't as common yet. Either you had Orlandeau or you had to rely on Chizuru, who had awful defensive stats so a lot of people passed on Chizuru and just straight up used Olive as a single DPS.

    And it worked out. Even as a single DPS she was pretty outstanding back then because she can increase her own thunder damage for 50% and her own physical damage for 100%, which makes her really strong in that sense.

    So until Firion came, she was basically the best physical finisher in that game and even had her relevance after Firion got enhanced.
    Which leads me to.....


    How did she fare?
    Olive didn't fare that well recently
    . At first, she was the queen of finishing DPS for a loooong time but once we got Firion enhancements, things went down really fast.

    In the enhancements batch where Firion got enhanced, she already got de-throned, which still wasn't a huge deal because the damage increase from Firion wasn't that big.
    But the batch right after, we got DKC and Luneth enhancements. And they made her completely irrelevant on release date.

    And how things went after, you could imagine. I have a lot of Olive comparisons in the Firion enhancements review, so if you want to check out some maths, look out for it. I won't run the maths again.


    How will she fare?
    I predict her to stay out of the meta even with a TDH change.

    She will hit way higher numbers than before, but she will get TDH FD competition from Nyx and Fire Veritas, she will get regular DH competition from Randi and Cloud.
    PS: I predict Cloud to be a lot better in GL due to DH Stacking restriction.

    We will get a whole lot of new and powerful finishers and until she gets enhancements, she doesn't really come back unless I'm underestimating her at this point.
    I don't see her beating the units I've just listed up. And then there are old dogs like DKC who will receive HUGE benefits from DH.

    So honestly, she needs enhancements at some point. Like I said, I might be wrong and underestimate her, but she can't even outdamage Firion in the most scenarios. So there's that.


    Enhancements prediction:
    True Shot will definitely get enhanced
    .
    At this point, I hope it will be around 600-700%, but then again, it won't fix her simply by granting her this modifier. It will make her better but still subpar.

    Then, Shattering shot. Probably 60% DEF break, higher mod and 60-75% thunder imperil.
    But personally I hope she will get enhancements for Napalm Grenade or Heated rounds. Because they are delaying Balthier for a reason, I think if she gets obvious enhancements she will just be a worse Balthier. And they are preventing that by either delaying Balthier and changing him up or make her enhancements differently from what Balthier looks like.

    Then most likely her DH passive gets enhanced and she might receive 125% - 150% innate DH + 20-30% more ATK passives, pretty standard enhancements.
    Or they will give her True Doublehand instead of the normal DH which will make her a fire finisher possibly due to Machine Gun+ and her heated rounds adding fire elemental to her attacks.

    There are a lot of options how Olive could like, she could become really good or simply just a plain casual enhancement to her and just let her die. I don't know what they are planning, but I'm sure they do plan something. At least that would reason the huge delay of Balthier.

    But the thing is, we already broke 4.000 likes, so yet another review. And Shadow is out of the competition, I am REALLY curious on what you guys will choose. I predict something really cool :).
    For now, I hope you enjoyed it even though I did not show comparisons. There are a lot of maths threads out there and currently Olive only really is good as a pure DPS, because DEF breaks don't work as often.

    Well here we go, my Favorite little falloff, after seeing Vargas's enhancements on jp, I have faith in gumi to increase her LB damage on a passive, his i believe is multiplied by 2,5 times, if she got something like that her lb would outdamage cloud's on a single target, I'm also hoping for a 3,8 base mutliplier on true shot, maybe 4, so that along with shattering shot as it is, she'd be on par with dkc, and then of course shattering shot, 75% lightning imperil and 60% def break at minimum, pls gumi make my favorite relevant again (i still use her at times because i can, but eh, it's hard to not see how bad she is compared to others)

    You should maybe add to the DH description that it does not include +XY% Atk bonus and only Raw Atk stats from the equipment.

    These are my predictions as well in terms of what abilities get enhanced. However, I think you are underestimating her possible modifiers enhancements. I mean she blew DKC and Luneth out of the water before enhancements. I'd say she may get True Shot up to 900%. For Shattering shot, you're probably right based on general enhancements so far. I'd say give her innate TDH with an increase to the %.

    As she's GE, I'd assume Gumi will want to get her on a banner and enhance her to get people to pull but you are right Balthier is being delayed for a reason and it could be the same as Ramza's delay...to get us to pull on a different unit.

    Anyway, I probably have a bias as she's my favorite unit. But I hope she comes back to the forefront of the META.

    Sparky will be really useful for Balthier lmao. But two? I dont know of any gunning chainers who need thunder elemental.
    Maybe CG Jake, but his JP state is pretty meh-ish in a lot of teams

    True Doublehand also affects two-handed weapons. And two-handed weapons have often enough a damage variance of 1.2x-1.7x or something like that.
    Whereas regular weapons, e.g. Katanas, that are one-handed have 0.95x-1.05x damage variance.
    So two handed weapons are WAY WAY stronger (especially fixed dice), but only get affected by true doublehand whereas doublehand only affects one-handed weapons

    That is the scariest joke ::dolphin::::ink:: could give me nightmares and starts mumbling canon jokes xd.

    So... in the end having duplicate olive = duplicate lightning = me scratching dust in the corner.::kefka::::joy::

    Anyway... if TDH comes and I get lucky. I will be trying out Enhanced Firion with fixed dice (don't have flame veritas...::rudecat4::::rudecat4::).

    Hello :) thanks for the Review, Meme, as allways, it's a pleasure.

    when i started this game, Friend's Olive was so good. I was realying to my Setzer with no chainer for damage.
    But, i stop using friend's Olive quite fast because of slow, really slow animation. I still like her because she helped me a lot. Really. I hope she will get a good Enh. She deserve it in my opinion (i don't have her btw) And, if i pull her, well... With DKC Enh. And that fresh FV she'll not number 1 priority to build without a good Enh.

    Now, for the 4K Review, do we vote here? Or there is another thread? (didn't check, i should maybe)
    And i'm voting (just in case) Noctis !

    He is another fresh pull for me, and so many people are talking about him. What he was, what he should be, how he could be up in GL (and the lick show something about him) No Enh yet on GL (could be a GE?) so i think it's really interresting to talk about him.

    well, i'll pick time to think about my choice so ;)
    before, i voted for Queen. But with her recent enhancement i don't see the point to do another review.
