Today, we're gonna be tackling the three headed beast that is the Devil Chimera. I'm going to tell you in the post so you people in Global, or even those unsure in JP can be ready to take on the beast. Before you start. You have to have beaten White Dragon as Devil Chimera is in the SAME room. If you haven't beat White Dragon yet here's a guide here: White Dragon Guide Spoiler: Recommended Ablities Recommended Abilities - Bar Spells (Thunder/Fire/Ice) - Protect/Shell/Deprotect/Deshell -Healing Moves (Cura, and Curaja are huge here) - Full Break/Power Break/Mental Break Recommended Units for this trial: Cerius: Cerius has all of what you would need in this trial, he has the first two things listed. 3 if you give the healing rod from the Hidden Village of Marlo from the Fat Chobobo, Cerius has a very high relevance in this trial since he negates all the spells damage with his bar spells, he can debuff the boss and buff your party with Protectga. I recommend you make get him as many MP boosting items as you can cause he will be using alot of spells just a precaution. I would also give him either Golem, or Shiva as esper. Vaan: Well, Vaan is here for one reason, he's still the only unit who can do Full Break which is extremely important for any hard level fight like this as you know it grants your team safety, while boosting your teams DPS cause he's debuffed, he also gets Concentrate which helps your teams SPR & MAG for the boss. I recommend you give him Ifrit, or Golem as espers for Vaan. Cloud of Darkness: Well, CoD has inherit resistance to all of all elements, so she's very useful here as she can soak up most of the attacks, combined if a Bar spell casted by Cerius she well has a 100% resistance to all of Devil Chimera's elemental attacks LOL. She kinda cheeses the trial this way. She has Barrage to help with a huge amount of DPS as well. Fina/Roselia: Both are healers, so which ever one you have is fine. Roselia does it better with her having Curaja it's not OVERLY needed, but it is better than Cura. Fina while not having Curaja, she does have Cheer & Cura. If you were to give her espers give them Shiva. Rain: Rain is good here cause he at least has Power Break, which can matter in the longhaul. Imagine this, you have bar spells up, and the boss ATK is debuffed from Rain. Your team would practically be safe til your buffs run out and you have to reapply them. Celes: Celes would be like Cerius in this case, I recommend her cause of her buffs, and if it's not bugged by the time Devil Chimera releases Sealing Blade can be helpful to negate some of the magic attacks it uses however, Celes herself cannot deal any damage to Devil Chimera as it would be listed why in a below point I will make. Other Great Units to Consider: - Cecil - Bartz - Medius - Garland - Krile Spoiler: Recommended Equips - Healing Rod [Give to Cerius] = Enables him to use Cura, - Regen Ring = +80 HP - Hyper Wrist = +10 ATK - Murasame [Give to strongest attacker] = +61 ATK - Cat's Bell [Give to buffer units] = +1 DEF, MP +20 - Brigandine = +41 DEF Sage's Robe = +35 DEF, +15 MAG, +15 SPR Poison Immunity Items - Phoenix Downs Now that we got all that settled, we can get started with the fight! Devil Chimera HP: 200,000 | MP: 120 Resistances: 100% Immunity to Fire, Ice, Thunder | Weaknesses: None Aliments: Immune to all, 20% Sleep Resistance Attack Cycle: 3 Thresholds: 50% & 30% HP Attacks: - Blaze: 160% AoE Fire Damage. - Frost Shot: 150% AoE Ice Damage. - Lightning: 140% AoE Thunder Damage. - Snow Storm: Single Target, cuts 25% HP of the target Ice damage. - Poisonous Breath: 75% AoE Chance to Poison. ** Will put official english names, when Devil Chimera is offically released.** How to Beat: Basically, the first few of these turns are gonna be a RNG gamble, if you plan to set up bar shields like myself it's gonna either be a real hit or miss if you can get the correct shield on the attack it uses you only got a 1/3 chance really. The easiest way is if you have someone with Concentrate, or Shellga just have them apply it so if you do get it wrong then you won't suffer as much. Devil Chimera only seems to use 1 spell on the first turn. But, on every two turns onwards he will in a pattern use Spells #1, and #3 everytime. So, applying Barfira, and barthundera should take higher priority if you got it. His attack pattern before thresholds is either one spell, and two regular attacks, or two spells and one regular attack so he's not hard to read. His Poisonous Breath is used everytime you hit a % threshold being both 50%, and 30% the poison is itself is not bad however, can make the fight harder. I would recommend you slap your healer with something that negates poison so you do not waste a turn healing the healer of status. Blaze is not scary as long as you keep your units safe and above 60% HP imo. As he can chip off enough, and be able to finish you off so be careful there. Ultimately, he's not a hard trial. It's a bit RNG-ish in the beginning stages but once you get the flow you will not have any issues. Just make sure he's debuffed by your units, and you keep your shields, and HP above 60% and you shouldn't run into too many issues. Also, I would avoid any and ALL mages here since they are well useless, hense why I did list any Krile can by past cause she can play support. Other stronger mages like Exdeath wouldn't be able to do anything to Devil Chimera due to his immunities to their main attacks. Award: Force Armor +51 DEF, +13 SPR, +10% Resistance to Fire, Ice, and Thunder attacks.
