Ready for the next trial to arrive on GL shores? Today, we're gonna covering the next trial to be released which is the Great Demon trial. Ready for some tips? Cause here they are!

Before you start, you would have needed to defeat Intangir in the Chamber of the Fallen

    Recommend Units For This Trial

    [IMG] - Exdeath

Exdeath covers alot of ground here as he hits the few waves (Yes, I said waves will explain later) in the fight with his assortment of elemental spells. He also has the Faith/Imperil line to help you out for terms of extra damage. But, as long as you have the -ga spells. Exdeath is the one to go to.

Other Great Options of Mages: [IMG] , [IMG] , [IMG] ,

    - Lightning

Lightning well kinda destroys this trial in two really. Cause she alone could one shot or severely dent the mobs and even deal great damage to Great Demon himself. Since Lightning has so many good elemental AoEs alongside her innate Dual Wield she wouldn't really need to be assisted by others that much. She would just freely destroy all the mobs which could save you some MP on some other units in all honesty.

Other Great Options of DPS Attackers: [IMG] , [IMG]

    [IMG] - Lenna

Lenna is still our best healer and has the neccessary equipment to keep up with this fight as she has the best heals available, Esuna, and Dispel in such buffing is a thing in this trial so she can make full use of that ability.

    Other Grreat Options of Healers:[IMG]

    [IMG] - Warrior of Light

You know why he's recommended haha. Cause Full Break is still a thing and it works fine here he can also function as your tank if need be. WoL also has great options to deal with the enemies at hand. If you've gotten Golem to 2* Provoke is a option for him to tank hits and what not.

Other Great Supporters: [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    [IMG] - Charlotte

She's the best cover tank in the game. Charlotte gets a extra good niche cause she has a small heal on her LB which actually can come in clutch. She also has a 50% chance to take attacks for your allies. But, this won't be AS usual but it will help some in this trial.

Other Great Tank: [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Recommended Espers: Diablos/Ifrit/Golem/Ramuh/Shiva
Recommended Items: Phoenix Down, Turbo Ethers, Elixir, Remedy, X-Potions (to save healer MP), Pinwheels

Now that you understand what you should try to bring here's some tips!

Wave 1: Giant Metal Gigantuar Level 99
    HP: 1500 | MP: 800
    HP: 2100 [GL] | MP: 800
Weaknesses: None | Resistances: None | Aliments: All except Paralyze, and Sleep
    Attack Cycle: 2
    Threshold: None
    Attacks:

1K Needles: Deals a fixed 1,000 damage to one enemy.
10K Needles: Deals a fixed 10,000 damage to one enemy.
Dizzy Punch: Small ST attack on one enemy.
Does Nothing: Does Nothing for one turn.

How To Beat: This one can kill you if you're not careful! DO NOT use any abilities, or spells on this boss as all of them deal exactly 1 damage it also triggers him to do 10K Needles which is pretty much a auto kill on one of your teammates so don't bother. The only way to kill him is by fixed damage which ignores his clear 9999 DEF/MDEF stat the best items I will recommend to use is if you any of the elemental damage items, Void Vessel if you are able to craft, or Pinwheels for a easy defeat. If you have a user with Throw like Miyuki, or Amarant then they can pretty much solo this fight without any real issues at all.

    Wave 2: Bomb & Balloon Level 99
    HP: 30,000 | MP: 400
Weakness: -50% Ice Attacks | Resistances: +50% Fire Attacks | Aliments: Null to Sleep, Silence, Stone
    Attack Cycle: 2
    Threshold: 30% HP
    Attacks:
    Flame: 140% ST attack
Explode [Threshold]: 100% AoE damage to all enemies.

How To Beat: They're the same as most Bomb based enemies. All you really have to do is NOT trigger the explosion move that they do as usual just do like a small damage attack to nudge his HP down then nuke him down to not trigger the explosion, if it makes you feel more safe take them out with AoEs.

    [IMG] & [IMG]

    Wave 3: Searcher & Io
    HP: [Searcher]: 60,000 | MP: 300
    HP: [Io]: 230,000 | MP: 600
Weakness: -50% [Searcher] Thunder Damage | Resistances: None | Aliments: Resists to Stone
Weakness: [Io]: -50% Thunder Attacks | Resistances: Wind & Stone +100% | Aliments: All except Blind, Paralyze
Attack Cycle [Both]: 2, 3 [Io]
    Threshold: None
    Attacks [Searcher]

Repair: Heals Io for a small bit of HP.
Physical Attack: Just a regular attack.

    Attacks [Io]
Crush: ST Physical attack on one enemy,
Plasma: ST Physical Lightning on one enemy, +40% Paralyze Chance
Wave Gun: 400% Lightning Based AoE used every 4th Turn if Searcher is alive.
Search: Used if Searcher is not alive.

How to Beat; [Searcher & Io]: Searcher is the one to be taken out which stops Io's Wave Gun. This allows you to have a easier time in fight, I also recommend getting a BarThundara so you can get the protection needed to deal with the both of them. Searcher really does nothing but try to heal Io for a small amount of HP. Get rid of Searcher ASAP, and keep Io debuffed and you should be fine. Again, BarThundaga keeps you more safe from his Plasma attack which will still hurt your teammates.

    Wave 4: Arieuth (?)
    HP: 900,000 | MP: 600
Weakness: - 50%Fire & Thunder Damage | Resistances: Earth +50% | Aliments: Null to Stone
Attack Cycle: 5-6 (Loses More Cycles when Tentacles are defeated)
    Attacks:

-Physical Attack: Small Physical Attack on one enemy (Main Body & Tentacles)

How To Beat: This one is very easy really. The best thing you should do is take down it's main body like how you would in a normal version of this enemy. Spamming Lightning & Fire based attacks makes him die out more quicker than usual so stick to exploiting his weaknesses for that he won't be too hard really as all he does is hit you with regular attacks.

    Wave 5: Great Demon
    HP: 280,000 | MP: 1,000
Weakness: -50% Light Damage | Resistances: None | Aliments: Immune to All, except Blind
Weakness [GL]: -50% Light Damage | Resistances: +20% Thunder Damage | Aliments: Immune to All, 60% Resistance to Blind
    Attack Cycle: 3
    Thresholds: 70%, 50%, 30%

Vulnerable to Demon Slayer (As a extra note)
    Attacks:
Firaga: 250% AoE Fire Magic Attack (Chance to use after Charge)
Thundaga: 250% AoE Magic Thunder Attack (Chance to use after Charge)
Blizzaga: 250% AoE Ice Magic Attack (Chance to use after Charge)
Fira (?): 100% AoE Fire Magic Attack
Charge: User charges for one turn.
Blizzara: 100% AoE Ice Magic Attack
Graviga [Threshold]: AoE Cuts everyones HP by 75%
Thundara (?): 100% AoE Thunder Magic Attack
Remove: Removes All Debuffs from self.

How To Beat: Great Demon is only hard if you allow him to set up. Provided if you have the right kind of buffs on your squad you won't run into any sort of issue. Best thing to do is to debuff him which auto triggers his remove skill the good thing about this is he won't use any of his skills listed above unless you hit threshold this in return forces him to remove the debuff, and attack you twice. It seems (when I tried it) you can keep making him do this again, and again without having to deal with any of his dangerous moves.

When he charges he will use 2/3 of the 250% mod moves in this time you can either guard your team to be safe, or take the team to replenish your MP since this is is a 5 wave fight, you're bound to eventually run low you could (If you're team is strong enough) clear up to GD without needing to use a single Turbo Ether.

Graviga is his threshold and it's not as bad as you'd hope. Yes, he does cut 3/4 of your HP however he does not do anything after it he just cuts and ends his turn this means you can get some HP recovery the next turn for your healer and not be to worried about your team being nuked into next year.

In all, I would just keep him debuffed with FB, or any kind of debuff Delita's Crush Armor (If you got it) would also be a good slot to use here as well cause you can debuff first and then deal your damage the only main thing is to watch for his Charge, and thresholds and you should be fine.

Final Award: Wizard Rod: +18 ATK, +72 MAG

I highly recommend Admarant in his fight. He won't be a waste of slot for the first stage (for throw) and he got decent tanking capabilities.

In another thread, people said it was best to buy Stone Throw from Mog King in the current event to be easy to kill Cactuar the first Wave of this trial. But if i understand correctly, we can just kill it in one shot with Void Vessel, correct? So no need to waste 1500 shards in the Stone Throw.

Would stone throw work though? If so, how much damage per use?

Gonna craft a bunch of items to use against the giant metal cactuar then. I don't have the option of void vessel so I guess it's Antarctic winds for me.
