Well, that was fast Gumi. Giving us more stuff to do early must be getting ready for something in the later weeks eh? Anyway, today we're gonna be talking about the 2 Headed Dragon and how to successfully beat it. As usual, leave all questions, and comments below.

    Recommended Units For This Trial:

    Snow

Snow gets a reasonably high mention here cause he has a higher target chance when dealing with enemies. This is actually perfect for 2HD who has special moves that his high provoke can actually work for making the fight less annoying to deal with.

    Other Great Tanks: [IMG]

    [IMG] - Luneth

For this trial, you're gonna need someone with innate DW more so than ever. Cause a heavy part of this trial is simply doing normal attacks on your own. With Luneth he is our current strongest innate DW user. So, if you have him use him! Cause the fight will definitely feel dragged if you don't use him.

Other Great Physical Attackers: [IMG] , [IMG]

    [IMG] - Refia

Refia as usual is recommended here cause she is the best 6* healer we have in the game right now. She also has innate resistances to several aliments which will not stop her from doing her job effectively in battle.

    Other Great Healers: [IMG]

And now that we got that out the way. Let's figure out how to beat 2HD!

    Name: 2 Headed Dragon
    HP: 1,000,000 | MP: 1600
Resistances: +50% Resistant to Fire, Lightning, Thunder, Water, Wind, Earth, Holy +80% resistance to Dark | Weaknesses: None
    Aliments: None
    Attack Cycle: 3
    Tresholds: 80%, 50%, 30%,

    Skill 1: AoE 210% Fire & Ice Element + -50% ATK/DEF for three turns.
Skill 2: ST 200% Attack, -50% INT/SPR for three turns + 30% Silence for one turn.
Skill 3: ST 230% Attack, +50% chance to paralyze.
Skill 4: [Threshold]: Store Buff + Ends Turn
    Skill 5: 400% AoE Attack + 100% Blind/Silence [Used After Skill 4]
Skill 6: [Trigger]: ST 100% Death
    Skill 7: [Trigger]: AoE -100% ATK/DEF/MAG/SPR for 999 turns.

Note: Whatever you do.. DO NOT use any abilities/magic that directly target 2HD doing so will make him do Skill 6 (if Magic is used), or Skill 7 (if Ability is used) you can actually still buff yourself, but you cannot debuff him yet! As you can see he does do alot of stat debuffing. If you have a tank you can rely on him to tank the incoming the damage as best as he can while also protecting your allies. With appropriate buffs Embolden/Meditate the debuffs done to your team will only bring them down to -5% of their stat which isn't bad at all. But, for this phase of the trial. Do nothing but normal attacks only.

How to Beat [100% - 35%]: This phase should be easy. Simply buff with your units and knock him down as much as you can. At the 80% mark he will charge up. To avoid any deaths, simply guard to avoid any heavy damage. If you guard with buffs up you should be fine.

How To Beat [35% - 0%]: You're probably wondering why stop at 35%. Well, his first threshold is at 50%, but the good thing about getting him to around 35%ish is that you can start to use your abilities/magic here now. Cause if you can get him down to 50% he will only do the Store buff and not do the respective triggers for doing the attack. Take that opportunity, and deal as much damage as you can possibly deal in that turn. When he charges up his attack is when you wanna guard everyone. Even if you manage to lower his MAG attack with someone like Ramza it's far to risky to think you can get off two straight turns of per damage on 2HD without taking any real serious damage. So, better to guard and keep everyone safe. Only Guard if you feel as if your team will not nuke from 35% to 0%.

Keep doing this for every threshold he gets near at. Take the opportunity to just damage him as hard as you can, and as fast as you can so you can try to nuke him. Also, he won't do the accumulate buff twice. Like if you knock down into the 50% one, and then the 30% one while he already his charging the first one. It will not come.. the 400% mod attack will come. This is why I recommend you to simply guard and play it slow.

Note: If you brought Eye Drops with you, then the turn after he does his massive attack. Just have your healer heal you, and have your attackers use Eye Drops on themselves so you can follow suit with the same plan until the next threshold.

Note: Using some key weapons/TMs like Twin Lance (FFV event), or Lightning's Aurora Scarf TM actually allows you to normally attack with your unit 2 times. If you have Dual Wield, then it gets boosted to 4 basic attacks per turn. So, make good use of those when trying to lower down 2HD HP as quickly as possible.

    Video Walkthrough by Jet Stingren:

And when he reaches 0%, you've successfully won the trial. Congrats. :]

Final Award: Grand Helm: +45 DEF, Immunity to Sleep/Confuse/Silence, +20% DEF when equipped with Heavy Armor

This Trial can be passed with 2 approaches, you can either focus on full physical party that will allow you for steady dps/turn or you can choose magical approach. Both approaches can be used regardless of your situation. Most of suggested units by Jet are 5* base units so I will try to suggest some party composition and strategy for peoples who werent luck enough to get 5* base.

Due to datamined change in thresholds guide will be updated today later on

    1. Core :
    - Tank: Snow / Cecil - Due to the banner and the fact that Cecil is 3* base, most of players should have him in their party, Cecil will suit to both approaches, while Snow only for physical approach.
    - Healer: Refia / Tilith / WWFina / Lenna - Refia is great here, innate resists, high spr resulting with little higher heal and most important 6* which gives here more hp, next choice would be Tilith for her global heal/status heal abilites, WWFina will be mostly for magic party that need mp battery, Lenna is last sort unit when you didnt had enough luck with 4* base healer.

    2. Physical Approach :
    a) units to choose
    - CoD - mostly for her Comeback to heal your units if someone got hit by Skill 2/3 or 5.
    - Bartz - Can equip a lot of weapons, easily pulled due to recent banner, can wield Twin Lance.
    - Maxwell - pretty durable, self auto revive and huge self buff will allow him to deal decent damage during last phases, can wield Twin Lance.
    - Kain - Dragon slayer, with his innate Dragon Killer and available Dragon Killer TM from 2* base unit he can deal a lot of damage, can wield Twin Lance.
    - Full breaker* - Agrias is best here, next one is WoL.

Friend unit : Elza as friend unit is highly preferred, if not Gilgamesh/Luneth.

    b) Example Strategy
[Refia/Cecil/CoD/Maxwell / (Kain if friend is Elza otherwise Breaker) / Friend ]
    [100-55%]
Turn 1 : Refia cast Embolden, Cecil cast Focus, others AA
Turn 2 - Turn x : Cecil heals, Refia on defence/heal, others AA ( don't use any limit breaks here )
    [55%-49%]
Turn x+1 : Maxwell use Sacred Song, Agrias cast Full Break or friendly Elza use Ravaging Blow, Cecil use his LB, Attackers cast their best abilites (Barrage, Jumps etc.).
    [50%-0%]
Turn x+2 : After triggering his charge abilites all units except for Maxwell/Kain should go to def (Cecil can heal if you are on low hp). Maxwell will be revived from Sacred Song if die / Kain can use Jump which allow him to avoid 2HD attack.
Turn x+3 : After being hit by Skill5 CoD should cast Comeback, Refia should revive anyone who died ( noone should died if you follow this strategy but sometimes accidents do happen ), Cecil cast Curaja.

Continue attack with best spells to trigger his 2nd and 3rd threshold thus saving you from his skill, remember to def your units on charge. What is crucial here is Comeback from CoD and debuff applied by friendly Elza or full breaker before starting to nuke him. Dont use limit breaks before 50% hp, keep them for nuke.

    3. Magical Approach :
    a) Units to choose :
    - Exdeath - must unit for this Trial
    - CoD - yeah you must be suprised why I add CoD here ? well she can be a mage too :)
    - Arc - in case you dont have second Exdeath.
    - WoL - full breaker if needed.

Friend unit : Elza or Exdeath - Elza for her debuff, Exdeath for high damage.

    b) Strategy :
    [ Cecil / CoD / Exdeath / Exdeath / ( Refia* or WoL** ) / ( Friendly Elza* or Exdeath** ) ]
Important thing here : you need to count turns, without counting turns you will fail.
Trick to know here is the fact that 2HD wont respond with 4x Death if magic spells are cast on odd turns (1/3/5/7)... also 4x Death wont be triggered on thresholds... If you manage well you can cover thresholds damage on even turns and deals damage on odd turns while skipping his 4/8 turns single Deaths casts.

    [100%-50%]
Turn 1 : Cecil Focus, if *setup then Refia Embolden if ** then def with WoL, mages should elem chain Blizzaga
Turn 2 : Mages defend, Cecil heals.
Turn 3 : If you dealt more than ~22-25% on first turn use WoL FB or Elza's Ravaging Blow to decrease def, Mages elem chain Blizzaga, if not play safe. ( boss should be triggered after this with his threshold )
    [50%-0%]
Turn 4 : All defends, Cecil heals if needed
Turn 5 : Cecil heals, nuke enemy with Meteors/Abilites, CoD casts Comeback. ( triggers another threshold )
Turn 6 : All defends, Cecil heals if needed
Repeat steps from turns 5-6 until 2HD is dead.

About CoD mage setup - CoD can wear a lot of mage stuff, so you can boost her magic with Staff and hat that Exdeaths cant wear and mag+ materias, if you connect CoD with Shiva you should be able to use Blizzara that could provide additional elemental chain.

He gave the marks for 80%, 50%, and 30% thresholds so it's helpful. So we can predict where the 55% threshold mark on the boss' HP bar.

    I got it from reddit.

80% threshold aligns with the right border of our character box.
50% threshold aligns with our unit HP bar.
30% threshold aligns with the "/" mark of our unit HP.

I know it is a different boss/threshold but at least you get the idea.

Yup that's why I said it's helpful :) Because you can see the marks / alignments from the picture that makes it easier to know the thresholds.

EDIT : 55% threshold should be aligns around the left border of our unit MP bar.

Don't forget CoD's Comeback ability, cures most statuses for the entire party and it can't be silenced.

Ugh, so many new units to level up for the recommended physical party setup (Snow, Bartz and Kain all 4*). Gonnna need loads of holy crystals to get these peeps caught up.

Overall excellent guide guys. A great helm for Cecil and I can give the Survivor's Helm to my second tank!

Could it be that he doesn't react to competencies on even turns?
That would give a lot of options for the fight then...
