There are really only two big news articles this week (IW doesn't count) and one of them is HUGE: Fryevia finally gets her NeoVision!!



She's here! It's been what, 4 years? Fry was one of my very first rainbows...ever...so while she doesn't hold the same place in my heart as Esther, she's definitely one of my favorite GLEX units. So let's take a look at what to expect!

Spoiler: Full Banner

• This is her base form, which looks like it will be a magic DPS as well as a buffer/support type unit.
• She will be a role-shifter meaning she can freely go back and forth between forms without cooldowns!
• The only skill we can attribute to this form is the AoE ice imbue/amp/imperil and also comes with an area effect.
• Based on the LB damage boosts she gets from her TMR and STMR we can assume she will deal heavy damage with her Limit Burst.
• The buff/support role may simply be from her ice imbue, but could also include some killers?

• This is her Brave Shift, which will be a physical DPS unit and a breaker.
• This ties into to Fry's two previous 7* forms, where the OG was an ice specialist while her Aurora form was light-elemental. It remains to be seen if she'll use light in this form, but it's a fair assumption.
• The only ability we can attribute to this form is a magnus ability with two uses that does a perfect dispel on all enemies and then full-breaks all enemies (is it too much to hope for 89%-90% breaks?) and imperils all enemies to ice and light element.

• Her TMR is great for anyone that doesn't already have the Equip Sword materia, and even without it a 50% ATK/MAG/LB materia is always welcome.
• Her STMR is very nice as a 2-handed sword with LB damage and two killers!

• It's not bad, and the static 250 to ATK/MAG/DEF/SPR for FFBE units is certainly welcome. Would have preferred killers, tho.

Spoiler: Summon Banners

• Much like the last few banners, we're getting the 28k special step-up, but this time it comes with a ticket for special GLEX items, rather than a new VC (see details below)
• If you pull the full step-up for 28k, you'll then need to spend another 18k on the second step-up banner to pity Fry, for a total of 46k lapis.

• This is where you spend that special Armory ticket if you go all the way on the special step-up. And here's what you can get:

• Beatles puns aside, some of this gear looks really nice!
• Personally, the two killer materias are very desirable. 75% to three killers in one slot is amazing, and you never know when we'll get a boss with these combinations so it could come in handy.
• Remember that this shop will be open until August 24th so if you can't pull on this banner (like me) there will be more opportunities to score this gear later on.

Dream Wraith Highlights

• Enemy Type: Human/Reaper
• Weaknesses: Ice (Major), Fire and Light (Minor)
• Will use wind and dark elemental attacks
• Will use non-elemental attacks (hopefully not wave spam again!)
• Will use an AoE death ability if it remains at 50% HP for a certain number of turns
• Will buff itself once it's below 50% HP
• Will inflict lots of status effects to the party (most notably sleep)
• Updated challenge option (bonus mod?) reduces healing by 90%!

Obnixus Drop Shop (Gale Green)

• NV units available for 3000 drops each:
  • Louise (finally, I will have her!)
  • Olivera (good dark-elemental tag-chainer for CoW!)
  • Roca (nice earth elemental buffer, or if you use Grahf she can help with CDs)
  • Rikku (seriously?)
  • Celes (great mag tank with AoE ice imbue, practical for this week's CoW!)
  • Charlotte (not great, but we still love Charlotte)
• Two new materias for 1000 drops each:
  • Dragonfly Destroyer: 70% ATK/MAG and 50% dragon/insect killers
  • Prideful Incarnate: Boost MAG and water/earth/light resists by 80% (noice!)

Xenostone Shard Exchange

Celestite Ring of Will

• Gear type: Accessory
• +80 ATK/MAG/DEF/SPR at level 10 and becomes Celestite Signet of Will
• Auto-casts 1% morale gain every turn (at all levels)
• Once it's upgraded to level 10 you can enhance it further to one of the following:
  • Magister's Signet: gives chain cap boost (being an accessory it may only be 0.5x boost, but we'll see after maintenance)
  • Emperor's Signet: 200 flat stats to ATK/MAG/DEF/SPR
  • Explorer's Signet: 50% dragon/insect/plant killers
  • Nomad's Signet: 50% beast/avian/aquatic killers
  • Physician's Signet: Adds active ability that cures party status ailments, boosts resistances to ailments and breaks.

- APRIL EQUIPMENT ENHANCEMENT EVENT (AKA ITEM WORLD) -

• It's happening...again...

 

You are right on here, I can't (and wouldn't) argue against this. It would be nice if they did the NVA Elena treatment to OG Fry, making her a viable support/morale unit for CoW instead of the obvoius cash-grab move that we have come to know and loathe from Gumi.

 

For sure, Reberta was a fantastic and dare I say "must-have" unit with all the support skills in her kit, but Fry might not make the same impression. If I had the lapis to go to pity, I would for sure just for nostalgia's sake, but I can't (and won't) chase her with any lapis if I don't pull one with tickets first.

 

Definitely! The GLEX units have all been much more substantial and interesting than Alim units, so Gumi is doing something right there, at least
