    An android from a faraway world, her proper name is YoRHa Type A No. 2. An attacker model implementing a close-range attack style not currently used, she is a prototype of the current official YoRHa soldier models like 2B and 9S, and closely resembles 2B. Long ago, she was thrust into a large scale fight by the human military headquarters to be tested, but afterwards it is said she deserted and went completely AWOL.
    I will keep this relatively short as A2 is still focusing on damage instead of anything else.

    Pre-"7* Awakening":

    When she got released chaining partners weren't too common, but they slowly started appearing. Thus that OHC didn't have any chaining partners didn't bother too many people as there was only 1 10 man trial.

    Upon release DW was meta and A2 did a great job. High ATK passives, high modifiers, innate DW! The only thing she was lacking was imperils, but even back then they could have been provided through various ways.

    As time went on she hold up to powercreep for a long time, but once she started falling off it went fast and she disappeared from the rankings quickly, but even with that in mind she was still serviceable. During the later 6* meta I never saw her as others such as 2B, Tidus etc. dominated it alongside their Doublehand / TDH builds.

    A2 was a fine 6* unit that lasted for a long time, how is she now?


    Post-"7* Awakening":
    Again, I've seen a lot of people being really underwhelmed by her and while she didn't get the same treatment as 2B, A2 is still at the top of the damage dealing meta currently.

    When equipped with large swords A2 gained an additional 80% ATK for a total of
    130% ATK as well as 100% innate doublehand. Doublehand is a bit of a letdown due to not being able to equip 2h weapons, but in most scenarios it doesn't make a difference because she lacks all sorts of imbues. Which definitely isn't a pro, but I'm trying to respond to a few complaints I've seen popping up.

    With her own TMR she gains 40% TDW, which is pretty much useless, 10% evasion and 150% Doublehand. With her own TMR she does have innate 250% Doublehand, however we won't make use of it due to the lack of imbues and thus preferably equipping an elemental largesword.

    Many of A2's old moves gained a 150% modifier boost, but most of them are still not worth using. Her old abilities would need higher modifier boosts to be considerably good, as of right now they aren't exactly impressive.

    However, A2's new moves are great. First up: shegains W-Ability for almost every ability, including both of her CDs and her new chaining moves as well as a self-sustaining ability.

    Her new chaining move is Avoid Heavy Attack, which is an 8-Hitter with AT frames! Yet another member that joins the family and future units will make it even more important, especially once we get to Akstar. Having AT frames currently is good and down the road even better. It has a 600% mod (750% at lvl 120) with a 50% ATK/MAG break. In case your breaker died or you don't have a breaker these are serviceable.

    Pet the Pod is supposed to make her more self-sustainable and can be used alongside chaining. It restores her own HP by 3000 and MP effectively by 30 while increasing her LB gauge, too. Not really worth using unless really needed though.

    Her own LB basically grants you a higher ATK buff with more turn durations. The turn after the LB you will even have a 300% ATK buff. Afterwards a 250% ATK buff. It's still worth using most of the times, especially if you are running units such as Seaside Nichol that can't provide any offensive buffs.

    Lastly her two CD abilities are quite simple. Inorganic Blade is available from Turn 1 onwards and has a 5 turn cooldown, grants her a self re-raise and a self 250% ATK/DEF + 150% ATK/DEF buff. The latter will run out after 3 turns, the former after 2. As stated earlier, you can use them with your own W-Ability, but with external ATK buffs not as worth in the long run.

    Hateful Blade on the other hand actively deals damage with an 1800% 1-hitter. This can be selfcapped for a lot of extra damage and does even better against machines due to its self 100% machine killer buff. Thus an innate machine killer of 250%. If you haven't cleared Aigaion or Omega yet, here you go.

    Overall A2 stands out for her damage numbers due to her monstrous self ATK buffs that are up at almost all times, making her #2 physical chainer currently. Even with Crazy Day imperils she holds up against the others as I will show you later on, thus if you have better imperils she'll fare even better. However that means she needs external support, which uses up other units' actions while she has a lot of trouble keeping up both HP and MP without resorting to her self recover move.


    Side-Notes:
    A2
    is different in GL.
    There isn't much to say about A2. Her future with unknown enhancements can mean a lot of things. If her enhancements are bad or don't boost her by a lot, she will drop off fairly quickly as her damage currently is high but compared to future units it's really not great. 2B's advantage is her huge burst that can always be relevant as well as high break numbers, making her viable as support if not used as Damage Dealer, but A2 on the other hand is a damage dealer that NEEDS external support to work well and does have issues keeping up her HP and MP while continuously becoming weaker and weaker. We can pray for god enhancements but that can be said for any other unit on the GL side as even bad enhancements can be turned into godly ones. So......
    Great now, okay-ish in the future and bad in the far future unless good enhancements. Might be an interesting pick for Aigaion Reborn once we actually get him (? probably not though).


    Best In Slot:
    Just a simple build with any elemental Large Sword, doesn't really matter. Choose the one you have external imperils for, I'll demonstrate her damage output through Crazy Day which can be provided by literally any unit.

    Hyoh's Clothes (28 ATK, 42 DEF, 30% ATK)
    Marshal Gloves x2 (80 ATK, 100% TDH)

    isn't too bad in the Arena. She has an AoE finisher with W-Ability, but that's pretty much her most redeeming quality already. With her tmr ability she has innate 50% accuracy in total as well as 30% physical evasion, but her HP stat is subpar and she has no status ailment protection innately.

    Verdict A2 is pretty good, the only phys chainer higher than her is Lenneth who is rather unreliable due to her frames. Thus #2.


    Trust Master Reward:
    A2
    's TMR fell off a lot, but can still be serviceable for some DW units if their other hand already offers an element. Otherwise it's free from the raid moogles and you'll grab it anyway. If you lack defensive weapons for e.g. your Basch, you can also utilise its 20% DEF passive, though there are better alternatives. Overall a mediocre TMR for current standards.


    Super Trust Master Reward:
    Her STMR is pretty darn good. 50% machine killer alongside 80% ATK with Large Swords. IF you happen to have 4x A2, definitely grab her STMR as a large majority of our current meta units utilises large swords and in the future there will still be a few units who can utilise them such as Zack or to some extend Squall after his enhancements. Jecht in between also uses large swords, though he isn't a meta changing unit.


    Conclusion:
    A2 is simple: high damage output with good frames but drawbacks
    .
    Her current damage output is great and she offers AT frames which are gaining importance quickly and even more in the future. Her drawbacks turn her into a unit that does decrease your slot efficiency however. She takes up turns for other units casting an imperil as long as your chaining partner doesn't provide them, which realistically should not happen, but she does need to be healed due to losing 20% of her HP every turn as long as she has her LB buff up as well as high MP consumption with no innate regens. You CAN use her self recover move, but that sacrifices an action thus tremendous damage drop and also not as easy to use with other chaining partners then. Her attached 50% ATK/MAG breaks can be nice though if you really don't have any breakers.
    Solid unit, not as bad as many people claimed her to be but definitely not as meta defining as her performance upon release.

    A2 ahh the good old A2, back when she was released few weeks later was released Malboro, i had to admit that was a true whale trial being one of the first to be able to properly clear it with A2 + Friend A2 and 2B. How can people not like her, well 2B is better but A2 is waifu as well.

    Also: Is the "Verun-TMR + FD" option for her any servicable? Like... 1st turn imbue > chain > LB > chain+CD > ... profit?

    The fact that there are no Ice or Wind GS's hurts her actual usefulness (currently).
    Since that's the elements that the Lasswells imperil.

    With Machina you can use Agni or Tonitrus ofc, but Machina does significantly less damage than the Lassies.

    It's less average damage than just equipping Agni. Even if you don't count the turns you have to use for imbue.

    If you lack TDH gear using Verun's TMR + Beastlord is an option, but not better than using an elemental sword with Marshal Gloves and stuff.

    She does 1,747,910,956 instead of 1,255,411,679.
    Considering the off-turns from imbuing and everything, this might end up a bit higher, but still troublesome to fit in the rotation. External imbue would be the much better option then...

    Always wanted A2 and 2B back when they were meta. Grabbed them now just so I have them now but, really disappointed they will have no place in my team. Despite the reviews I still find both lacking.

    Christine don't disappoint me! Hope we get COOL and EASY to GET new GL Christmas exclusives too! And no more Abysmal banners (i.e 2018 Halloween)!

    Everything in here is pretty much on par with where I saw her and where she is now and can go. That's good, but also not great-ish...

    What I was hoping for this week was an official enhancement announcement for the NieR units. I know they JUST came back, but I thought maybe they would pull a "Dragon Quest" situation. This is both a good thing and a bad thing:
    • Good because: Enhancements down the road can bring these units directly into the current meta (whatever it is then) and allow then to shine. This has proved successful for many units, but then there is the bad...
    • Bad because: We have no idea what the future looks like which leaves us in limbo regarding more specifically A2 than 2B. This is a Limited Event banner which has now been run twice. If/when they are enhanced, many who did not pull on either Banner Run may be kicking themselves because of amazing enhancements ("God like") or will kick themselves because they pulled so hard and the unit now still "sucks" (again, in the future meta) and will never be meta again.
    This is the main problem with older LT banners and units. Dragon Quest eased our concerns due to Global Upgrades + immediate enhancements giving piece of mind to pull or not. Then, they re-ran the event only a few months later after we were able to see how good/bad the enhc. units were to decide whether to pull or not for the 7* DL. Ironically, Estark got his JP enhancements during the second run (his first run) so we had an idea what his potential future may look like.

    As someone who has been around for both runs of this banner, it is funny to see 2B step ahead of A2 out of the gate when, arguably, A2 was the "stand out" unit in Aug 2017 - although 2B was not bad either.

    At this point, A2 is the worst she can possibly be, which fairs well for her potential future (we hope). She was given a common chaining family to start, which is a good sign. What I am most hopeful for when it comes to A2's potential enhancements:
    • MP Refresh (7% or more)
    • Doublehand -> TDH
    • 100% DH -> 150%/200% TDH (dare to dream)
    • Frame alteration on an existing skill that adds yet another chain family
    • Possible to consider imperil added to said chain skill?
    As for 2B, I've posted many times what I want to see happen and this thread is about A2. But, I do think it only makes sense that A2 and 2B should share a chaining family together. I mean, they're both Android, both from the same banner and both 5* base DPS units... logically, why in the heck they never chained together in the first place is kind of silly. So that means either:
    • A2 gains a chaining family in 2B's kit from enhancements.
    • 2B gains a chaining family in A2's kit through enhancements.
    • They both join a new chaining family through enhancements in both their kits. By "new," I simply mean a shared family such as a unique NieR one or something like DR/AR/Octa.
    This is my hope for the NieR units, A2 specifically. I never pulled her on the original run of the NieR event, but I did get 2B. Now I have 7* A2 and was hoping to join the hype train, but it seems to have left the building awaiting her future. I am hopeful, but am not going to get stuck in a moment as the meta moves forward. I tried to make her work and everything i do required me to build a team around her as a DPS, which is very heavy to maintain even with the best possible combination or units and gear. I did kind of hope to use my Bahamut Tear on her....eh, well.

    Thanks for sharing. There have been a surplus of A2 reviews, conparitively speaking, posted here and elsewhere. I have been following all of them trying to find any hidden gems or Easter eggs I may have overlooked. No matter what I find, nothing changes where she stands and where I stand with owning one. Another one for the eventual bench....
