    A young archer from a certain village of swordsmen. Unfortunately for Ang, lacking a talent for fencing meant growing up under the judgmental eye of the other villagers. It was only by chance that one day a wandering traveler introduced him to the bow and arrow, and discovering he had a knack for it, decided to become an archer. Having come a long way, Ang is now confident that his skills with the bow far surpass those of any swordsman.
    He looks like a character from Fire Emblem, at least I think he does. Besides that, let's enjoy the surprise he brings.

    Pros:
    Yang will have a word with your name, my friend.

    Ang's base stats fit perfectly into the meta. Great HP, very high ATK and good DEF/SPR. Basically something everybody wants. His passives are also pretty good. He has innately 30% HP/MP and 20% ATK while also having 100% innate True Doublehand, which will come in very handy later on. Once you equip a bow, Ang also gains an additional 30% ATK/DEF/MAG/SPR, making him a really tanky physical damage dealer, but also having an 80% chance above 10% HP to ignore fatal attacks helps out a lot. He also has some neat status ailment protection with poison, blind and petrify. Not the best but at least some.

    Since this is the valentine's event, Ang comes in with two love passives. Everlasting Love and Loyal Love. Both require him to be paired with Yan. Once both are on the field (and alive), Ang is resistant against charm, gets 2 LB per turn and 5% MP refresh for the important part. While Yan herself is not a broken unit, you might want to consider taking her with you if possible.

    Ang doesn't stop showing off already, he brings 4 different innate killers. Master Hunter grants him 75% beast/insect killer and 25% bird/dragon killer. He can also set himself up for OTKO strategies with his Beast/Bird/Dragon/Insect Hunter Arrows. They deal pretty bad damage, but grant Ang a 3 turn respective 75% killer. Very valuable for OTKO strategies if it matches the enemy's typing.

    Almost everybody should know Kelsus. You know, the free summon 5*? No? Well, he wasn't amazing. But he had an ability that chained up with a delay at the beginning from the next turn. Ang has that too, Tempest / Blaze Arrows are basically a stronger version. This is mostly useful if you run.... a jumper as finisher. That's about the only thing you can really do with that. Or finish the newly introduced Mortar Beacon +2 from Olive. But you'll see later on that this is not what Ang will focus on.

    I will talk later about Petrifying / Penetrating Shot, for now let's take a look at Ash Shot. It's a 3x selected enemy move with a total 210% mod. So pretty pretty bad, but the only thing that's worth talking about is the fire imperil. It's a 50% one and you will see in a second why this is the only really useful Shot. Well, at least once in the fight.
    It also enables Swift Shot, which has the same mechanic but a total 6x modifier, so a lot better.

    Now, time to jump to Ang's Limit Burst. I'm saying this in advance: max his limit burst. It's an AoE 1300% 1-Hit modifier WITH innate fire damage, WITH a 74% AoE fire imperil AND it adds fire element to his attacks for three turns. Oh, and also it enables Swift Shot for a turn. This Limit Burst is absolutely overloaded, overpowered and everything there is to say. You will see why in the maths section...


    Cons:
    Ang
    can be very unappealing for some people.

    Why? His equipment selection. Free bows generally are very bad. He also requires True Doublehand TMRs, which means he needs Elfreeda (ideally two) and a Cloud and many do not have that set up. While one Elfreeda + Desch + Cloud regarding TMRs is still really strong, sometimes people still don't even have that or generally don't farm many TMRs. Ang is a pretty hard to gear guy.

    Probably a con that is very important: almost all of his innate moves have very very bad modifiers. The only decent modifiers are Tempest / Blaze Arrows and Swift Shot, while the first one is a delayed chaining move and the latter a locked finisher move. Everything else damage wise sucks.

    Which leads me to my next point:
    Ang is 100% LB reliant. Without his LB, you will have a very hard time making him powerful. Adding to that is that Ang has no innate Hightides, his LB costs 20, which isn't the highest but could have been cheaper and also he has no innate auto LB unless you bring Yan. The equipment will help later on regarding this one.

    That's basically it, Ang is just a plain finisher. While his LB is very strong and can set up your chainers as well with the sweet 74% fire imperil, the rest of his kit is just very unappealing and pretty boring. So without his LB, you can basically send him to the Shadow Realms.


    Side-Notes:
    H-ANG
    on (awful pun), because I have not talked about his equipment selection fully. If you DO have the required set up that's needed to make him good, please take a glance at his equipment. Oh, throwing weapons? Oh, innate 100% TDH?
    Exactly. Ang is the first unit in GL with 300% TDH and Fixed Dice. And holy lord, you will see later how broken that really is.
    For now, I can already spoil you: as long as you have the required set up, Ang will most likely not leave the #1 finisher spot until 7*s. Unless we get some new GE finishers that are even more absurd.
    Regarding him, once you have two Elfreeda TMRs equipped on him, he has innate 4 auto LB. It's recommended to use somebody with Eccentrick to make it accessable to have him have his LB every second turn. Every third turn is still enough.


    Best In Slot:
    If you can proc the killers of his Bow (Bird/Dragon), use it. If not, always use Fixed Dice.

    Prishe's Hairpin (45 ATK)
    Training Clothes (20 ATK)
    Marshal Gloves x2 (80 ATK, 100% TDH, 4 Auto LB)
    Buster Style (100% TDH)

    ATK with Bahamut and Sun Breaker:
    1697 ATK


    Arena:
    Ang
    has decent HP, some status ailment protection and innate accuracy (especially with bows). If you have two Angs and you have no issue with the delay in his AoE chains, he can be pretty devastating and with TDH never miss even 100% dodge units. But generally, there are many others that perform better, I recommend him if you don't have these better units.

    • Cupid Artemios has innate light element and light imperil
    • Cupid Artemios has better status ailment protection
    • Cupid Artemios has suicidal tendencies, but very tanky

    While not only having a better set of killers and no suicide covers AND a better element than holy with fire, Ang can easily win this comparison even if you only get his Limit Burst every third turn. Even if Ang is only on his way to become super powerful, he outperforms e.Cupid Artemios in every case.
    Oh, FYI, e.Cupid Artemios is now the second best finisher.
    Ang wins.

    • Balthier has a reliable rotation that can get stronger with RNG
    • Balthier has status ailment protection
    • Balthier has 15% phys/mag dodge
    • Ang has higher survivability
    • Ang has 4 different killers
    What the heck, you know the deal, let's get the maths going.

    Turn 1: 1577^2 x 1.5 x 3 x4 = 44,764,722 (Elemental Shot - Fire/Water/Lightning)
    Turn 2: 1577^2 x 1.5 x 5 x 4 x 1.6 = 119,372,592 (Killer Shot)
    Turn 3: 1577^2 x 1.5 x 10 x 4 x 1.6 = 238,745,184 (Finishing Blow)

    Even though Balthier is a lot more versatile in his elements, it doesn't make much of a difference. Ang's damage is crazy high, his LB turns have the highest damage possible in the game for OTKO strats. His overall damage is the highest total finisher damage, the enemy needs a strong elemental weakness so that Balthier outperforms him. And even then, Ang has situational killers.
    Ang wins once again.


    Trust Master Reward:
    This TMR itself is pretty damn nasty. Two 50% killers, 145 ATK, two handed with a ~1.5x damage variance. If you are a min/max guy, you will farm this TMR only for occasions where you face a bird / dragon because this Bow will outperform Fixed Dice in these scenarios. Currently there is no one however who generally uses this TMR as a BiS TMR. If you dislike Fixed Dice, you can also use this for Ang.


    Conclusion:
    Ang is f*cking busted.
    In every possible way, even his 5 turn rotation including his rather weak moves etc., he is just devastating.
    His build up rotation, his 3 turn LB rotation and his 2 turn LB rotation outscale every current finisher while the 2 turn LB rotation is just absolutely broken in every possible way.
    However, you have to take him with a grain of salt because you need "whale gear" to make him this powerful. You also need Rikku's TMR to achieve him spamming his LB for the most part. Some may not like him, but he is the most busted finisher GL has seen so far and having him at such high levels, it makes me doubt that he will be outdamaged for a long time.
    Ang is absolutely amazing if you can afford him and IF you have that gear, go for him.

    And there you have it, the unit who just completely demolished the whole physical finisher meta ranks. Personally I think he is way too strong at this point in the game, throwing weapons and innate 100% TDH were a huge mistake regarding that. But his damage speaks for itself.

    I'm curious, among all the finishers, which is the best *without* a Cloud or Elfreeda tmr and what's the build?

    I just got Nyx, have VoF, VoL, Tidus, and FD.

    Sweet review dude, Prishe still evades me ( as does ADV 5 ) but even so, using the rest of the suggested gear, I managed to bring mine up to 925 Atk, he hits like truck.

    Instead of Eccentric you can also use Yans Chi ability if you bring her anyway for his quicker LB refill. That one also amps him up pretty quick. (It doesn't stack, does it?)

    Thanks Meme! I have almost all the tmr needed (no prishe).. And usually I didn't use/need a finisher.. But I think RNGod doesn't want that I HAVE a finisher xD ::damn::

    Don't have even one of the TMRs necessary for this guy... (maybe fixed dice, I'm missing 10% for that one). So a no go for me.

    Pity, a physical finisher is the only slot I'm really missing (I'm a bit hurt that I couldn't get Balthier... even though I spent all I had on that one).

    It is barrage with 8 hits and very slow animation. How it is possible to set it at the end of the chain like finisher with one hit. Or does it change with enchantments?

    post enhancements it's a 2x barrage (so only two regular attacks), which are very fast with C.Artemios

    Meme, pretty please, will you write reviews for eCupid Artemios, eOlive and eLunera, too? I have all three of them and I'm not sure which of them to enhance first or at all. Besides, if you you don't have the full TDH equipment like me (I only have Cloud's TM and FD, neither Elfreeda's nor Prishe's TM), which would be the best physical finisher atm, Ang or eCupid? It's all so confusing if you have to rely on a full set of TMRs and you simply don't have them all!

    I truly am wondering about his AOE chainer potential. I mean, the 1 turn delay doesn't freeze you, right ? So after 1st turn, he can simply chain fire or wind, even on fd. Considering the busted gears he has access too, ain't this potentially amazing ?
