One of Golbez's Archfiends who appears in the tales of a blue planet watched over by two moons. Barbariccia commands the element of wind, and has been entrusted with the protection of the Tower of Zot. When a proposal is made to release a kidnapped Rosa in exchange for the Earth Crystal as per Kain's suggestion, everyone agrees to proceed with the negotiation at the Tower of Zot. Aware of the party's movements, Barbariccia works from the shadows to set up the Magus Sisters against Cecil in hopes of being praised for her efforts.
Barely any clothes, female, long hair and a good shape, sells good! Lmao.
Still testing out color highlighting :)

    Pros:
Wowowowow, Barbariccia has a lot. Is everything good tho? ::rudecat2::

Barbariccia has amazing base stats. She has decent HP and MP, her DEF is alright, but her base MAG is massive. With pots, Barbariccia goes up to 190 MAG, which is by far one if not the highest base MAG in the game! That helps her a lot, but her SPR also is really high, which rounds it off as overall amazing base stats. For a mage, her HP is still pretty good, nearly 4k HP. She also has innate 100% wind resistance and 50% earth resistance, makes her a great choice if the enemy spams these attacks.

What would be the best thing to get, if you have very high base MAG?
Right, high MAG passives. If you equip Barbariccia with a rod, she has a total of 80% MAG. In the end, she has a lot of MAG. She also gets 30% MP with a 5% MP Refresh, this will be quite handy for the Tornado Spams.
But Barbariccia has 20% HP in her kit. As a mage, this is something you always want to see in your kit. Mage gear rarely increases HP by a lot and thus they often are quite squishy. But if you have a decent amount of HP in your traits, your survivability goes up by a lot.
For beginners, equipping her with a Light Shield grants her 30% SPR as well. This is a really good addition if you want to make her survive!

Barbariccia is immune against silence, paralyze and petrify. These are awesome status ailment resistances for her, since Silence actually matters and Paralyze + Petrify usually are one of the peskiest and most common status ailments. Fine enough.

Her Limit Burst is great. It has a high 820% modifier at max with 7 hits, but it's dual elemental. This can be a pro as well as a con. For the chain modifier it's a pro because you will reach the maximum chain modifier way faster.
The deal about Barbariccia's Limit Burst however is the 74% Lightning/Wind imperil. Just like Loren's basically. This is just great to set up a thunder or wind finisher and make her own Tornado or Aeroja stronger. I'd recommend maxing it.

Cyclone Shield is a decent self MAG/SPR buff, grants Barbariccia a 100% buff in MAG and SPR. It also grants her 4 100% physical dodges. This is massive if there is an incomming threshhold which deals heavy physical damage or just generally every turn a big AoE hit you want to dodge. It's rather niche, but it can be a gamechanger in rare fights.

Storm Ward is pretty simple, it's an AoE 70% lightning and wind resistance buff. Green mage aspects are always very niche on units, but if it comes in handy, it's a great pick. I've realised this during Diabolos 3* fight in JP, Dark Veritas made it so much easier because of his AoE 70% dark buff. So I value these buffs way higher now.

Barbariccia gains more supportive abilities with Refreshing Winds. If you use this after Cyclone Shield or Storm Ward, it becomes a great mini bard regen. If you use it randomly, the MP regen is almost the same (only 4 MP per turn difference), but he HP regen drops by a lot. This can be useful if you are lacking any MP ressources.

Now, what makes Barbariccia so good?
Barbariccia has innate DC Black Magic COMBINED with Aeroja AND Tornado. This is just amazing.
She can either be a very powerful finisher with DC Aeroja and ideally reflect for skipping threshholds or phases in 10 man trials.
Or a very powerful chainer with DC Tornado, which is a perfect 47 Chain. But you can now have a very solid AoE 10 Man chaining monster. Because you can use Shantotto + Barbariccia for 10 man trials! That's so good. And Shantotto is super easy to get.

Or, if you use two Barbariccias, you can actually stack up Aeroja (takes up two turns) and then finish with your own Aeroja on your Tornado chain. Very important! Thanks to the reddit post, that confirmed that you do NOT lose these stacks. This is great! Makes her damage potential go up way higher!

This would mean, after turn 3 you'd have a
23 Wind chain with a 375% MAG mod (not including the actual chain mod boost)
with a 900% MAG finisher, so 3600% with the 4x chain mod.
    Great potential.

    Cons:
Now we come to the part where the hype tones down a little. But don't worry, these cons aren't the absolute worst, so don't lose the hype quite yet! :D

MP might become a problem if you do not have dedicated MP batteries like Ace, Queen or Lunera. DC Tornado + Aeroja will eat up 76 MP per turn, that's A LOT. So bring MP batteries or you will run out of MP soon.

Barbariccia has a couple of pretty mediocre abilities.

Her Charged trait from what I can read (wiki info) is an activated ability rather than an instant counter. And if this is true, it sucks. A 200% modifier is nothing you want to use in today's meta. However, if it's an instant counter, it's quite strong. I'll leave it here though.

Barbariccia lacks SPR passives. But wait, I told you earlier that she can get higher SPR with light shields?
Yes, that's true. For beginners it's great, but for veterans and experienced player, you ideally want two Rods or Rod + Whip/Mace for magic killers (serpent maze and malboro whip), so no room left for a light shield. This reduces her SPR by a decent amount. I wish it was a regular 30% SPR passive.

Ray is ST. That's all there is to say, ST is almost never worth it.

Flurry is physical damage?? Why? Barbariccia has horrible ATK, useless ability.

Her last real con is Sunder. It's a disappointing move. You have to use Aeroja, Tornado or the useless Flurry first. Afterwards it gets empowered. But it's absolutely not worth it, since the total mod is a 10x lightning/wind modifier, your regular Tornado+Aeroja rotation is stronger and far better because it's not dual elemental.

She is also locked into the wind element, which would make her a poor choice against wind resistant enemies.

Here and there her numbers could be a little stronger, but overall there aren't too many cons to talk about.

    Side-Notes:
    Barbariccia
is great for 10 man trials. Either as Aeroja + Reflect phase skipping unit or as Tornado Chainer with Shantotto. It's not recommended to do that regularly though because Shantotto is very squishy. So only do that to deal with a phase quickly!
Besides that, Barbariccia's equipment selection makes her great. Why?
Malboro's Whip and Serpent Mace. She's the first mage that is actually able to gear herself with these effectively, with that, she can actually deal a huge amount of damage if it procs.
Barbariccia also has something more funny with the highest Charme ability. She has a 25% chance to charm the enemy for one turn and unlike other status "ailments", charm is basically never resisted. Time to cheese.

    Arena:
    Barbariccia
is amazing in here. She has Tornado, decent HP, status ailment protection, elemental resistances. All these aspects make her a great asset to your team, probably one of the best Arena DPS units you can get right now. I'd highly recommend using her here.

Barbariccia [IMG] VS [IMG] Enhanced Trance Terra
    • Barbariccia has higher MAG but 30% less MAG passives
    • Barbariccia's equipment selection is a lot better
    • Trance Terra has overall way higher survivability
    • Barbariccia is locked into wind, Trance Terra is locked into non elemental
    • Barbariccia can finish her own chain with Aeroja
    • Barbariccia has way better supportive aspects
    • Trance Terra has innate 30% phys evade
    • Barbariccia has a 74% lightning/wind imperil
    • Barbarricia's status ailment protection is better
XenaRen did maths on that subject, but he is missing out on the fact that Rainbow Robe > Dark Robe and the fact that Barbariccia can equip Serpent Mace and Malboro's Whip. Thanks mate ::rudecat11::
I will put the seperated maths into spoilers!
The maths are using Barbariccia's Tornado+Aeroja combo.
    Turn 1: 1171^ 2 x 2.5 x 3.5 + 11712 x 2 x 4 x 1.5 = 28,453,251
    Turn 2: 1171^ 2 x 2.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 + 1171^ 2 x 3 x 4 x 1.5 = 42,679,876
    Turn 3: 1171^ 2 x 2.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 + 1171^ 2 x 4 x 4 x 1.5 = 50,907,322
    Turn 4: 1171^ 2 x 2.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 + 1171^ 2 x 5 x 4 x 1.5 = 59,134,768
    Turn 5: 1171^ 2 x 2.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 + 1171^ 2 x 6 x 4 x 1.5 = 67,362,214

    DPT for first 5 turns = 49.707,486
    DPT after first 5 turns = 67,362,214
Barbariccia deals 96,147,499 with Soleil and without killers after her Aeroja Max.
    Turn 1: 1151^ 2 x 2.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 + 1151^2 x 2 x 4 x 1.5 x 1.5 = 41,234,431
    Turn 2: 1151^ 2 x 2.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 + 1151^ 2 x 3 x 4 x 1.5 x 1.5= 61,851,646
    Turn 3: 1151^ 2 x 2.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 + 1151^ 2 x 4 x 4 x 1.5 x 1.5= 73,774,855
    Turn 4: 1151^ 2 x 2.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 + 1151^ 2 x 5 x 4 x 1.5 x 1.5 = 85,698,064
    Turn 5: 1151^ 2 x 2.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 + 1151^ 2 x 6 x 4 x 1.5 x 1.5= 97,621,273

    DPT for first 5 turns = 72,036,053
    DPT after first 5 turns = 97,621,273
    Turn 1: 1118^ 2 x 2.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 + 1118^2 x 2 x 4 x 1.5 x 1.5 = 38,903,884
    Turn 2: 1118^ 2 x 2.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 + 1118^ 2 x 3 x 4 x 1.5 x 1.5= 58,355,826
    Turn 3: 1118^ 2 x 2.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 + 1118^ 2 x 4 x 4 x 1.5 x 1.5= 69,605,142
    Turn 4: 1118^ 2 x 2.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 + 1118^ 2 x 5 x 4 x 1.5 x 1.5 = 80,854,458
    Turn 5: 1118^ 2 x 2.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 + 1118^ 2 x 6 x 4 x 1.5 x 1.5= 92,103,774

    DPT for first 5 turns = 67,964,616
    DPT after first 5 turns = 92,103,774
    Turn 1: 0
    Turn 2: 8.4 x 2 x 1418^2 x 3.51 = 118,568,373
    Turn 3: 8.4 x 2 x 1418^2 x 3.51 = 118,568,373
    Turn 4: 8.4 x 2 x 1197^2 x 3.51 = 84,489,882
    Turn 5: 8.4 x 2 x 1197^2 x 3.51 = 84,489,882
    Turn 6: 8.4 x 2 x 1197^2 x 3.51 = 84,489,882

    Avg DPT per rotation: 81,767,732
Trance Terra deals 98,806,977 with Soleil.
So this means, Barbariccia without proccing Killers is inferior to enhanced Trance Terra damage wise. Once Barbariccia procs either a Demon, Plant or Aquan Killer, Barbariccia can outdamage Trance Terra in 6-7 turns! So Barbariccia CAN actually outdamage her, which is really good.
Outside of these three killers, Barbariccia and Trance Terra have very similar stats while Barbariccia provides two strong imperils and decent supportive actives.
So it's pretty much on par. That being said, Barbariccia has a way better overall kit and can use finishers every turn unlike T.Terra, while also setting them up.
FYI this is without any buffers. Barbariccia can't outdamage Trance Terra with Soleil, but it's only a very small difference. Since this is a very situational comparison I will put them on par. With killers it's an easy outdamage.

Barbariccia [IMG] VS [IMG] Grim Lord Sakura
    • Barbariccia doesn't look like a kid
    • Barbariccia has higher MAG base stats and 20% higher MAG passives
    • Grim Lord Sakura has a 100% MAG True Doublehand
    • Grim Lord Sakura's proper build has way way higher tankyness
    • Grim Lord Sakura has way better supportive aspects
    • Barbariccia can finish her own chain with Aeroja
    • Both utilise magic killers
    • Both have great status ailment protection
    • Both can be used as -Ja spell finishers
    • Barbariccia provides a 74% lightning/wind imperil
    • G.L.Sakura provides a 50% fire/dark imperil
    • Both can equip Malboro's Whip and Serpent Mace
They look very similar, but lets take a look at the maths, shall we?
    Avg DPT: 1284^2 x 4 x 2 x 3.58 = 47,217,508
    Avg DPT: 1284^2 x 4 x 2 x 3.58 x 1.5 = 70,826,261
This means, Grim Lord Sakura will outdamage Barbariccia against Human type enemies. While Grim Lord Sakura also has better overall supportive aspects, she doesn't have the same synergy in 10 man trials that Barbariccia has.
As we are undergoing the same proccedure as with Barbariccia, I will take the overall usage, and Grim Lord Sakura only outdamages her with one killer. This means Barbariccia wins.

    Trust Master Reward:
This is probably one of the best mage TMRs to get. 30% HP with four different sets of magic killers, insane boost to your magic dps if it procs and grants a lot of HP as well. Get it asap.

    Conclusion:
    Barbariccia
    is an excellent unit.
She has great overall stats, can be used in a large variety.
Either with Aeroja + Reflect strats to skip phases and threshholds.
As supportive mage or as Chainer who can finish her own chain with Aeroja.
The fact that she is able to equip 7 different magic killers makes her overall great as well and I'd love to put her over Trance Terra, but it's still very situational, so I will put them on par.
I will pull for her, but if you have Trance Terra she's definitely not needed at all. Besides, the banner itself is not the best.

    Character Design: 9.5/10
    Sprite: 9.5/10
    Chainer: 9/10
Finisher: 8/10 (combined with her own chain 9.5)
    Trust Master Reward: 8.5/10 (situational)
    Arena: 9/10
Limit Burst: 7/10 (is not the best dps option)
    Free 2 Play: 8.5/10
    Pay 2 Play: 9.5/10
    Personal Rating: 9.5/10
    Optimal Rating: 9.5/10

    Give me her please :(
Please tell me what you think about the color usage this time :)

Haven't read it yet, but the fact that Barbariccia's sprite does not have Rizer's face already tells me you have been allured by her and are therefore biased.

Normally your detailed ability analysis convinces me there is a situation that makes a unit worth pulling.

This time i was sold at the picture...

I might be a little biased, but I can at least prove my point per maths!

''Barbariccia doesn't look like a kid''. No love for Loli's? ::rudecat4::

Looks like a great unit, far from what I expected. May have to try some resources on this banner.

I didn't look at the actual stats and equipments, so I missed the killers potential I must admit that make her better than I thought. I estimated her about on par with GL Sakura most of the time and inferior to TT damage wise, this wasn't that far off
Anyway, good review. I'm pretty surprised that DC two different spells doesn't break the stacks though. Was this finally patched or is the a tornado + Aeroja specificity ? And are the stacks still there after this move, are is it only active to finish the chin and then reset ?
