    The new emperor of Zoldaad. As Emperor Sozhe's legitimate son, the crown prince Shera took the reigns of the nation as the most influential person in the empire following his father's death. His people have acknowledged his great efforts, and when he was officially crowned, the whole nation showed its unwavering support for its new emperor. Although he has proven himself to be a strong leader, he is only human, and often misses the company of his older brother Jake.
    Jake went missing after people weren't happy with his unit. So don't worry Shera.

    Pros:
    It's time for another Emperor unit.

    Emperor Shera's base stats are rather well rounded than focusing on a single stat. He has massive base HP decent ATK/DEF/SPR. Not particularly outstanding, but his traits make up for that! With 30% innate HP, 20% DEF/SPR, 5% MP refresh and a whopping 100% ATK when equipped with a sword and light armor in total is quite nice. I hope you got Cloud's Uniform in december, it'll pay off now! This is one of the highest unenhanced ATK passives so far.
    While Emperor Shera also has an interesting set of status ailment protection. Not only does he have confusion resistance but he also has a 100% charme resistance! So far only Echidna is using charm but it might be handy in future trials (especially GE ones). A 50% fire resistance is included as well.

    Something that Emperor Shera might just make him better than other options is his three innate killers. Against demons, dragons and plants he has a 50% killer each. Nice to have as it means that he can increase his damage by a good amount when proccing a respective killer.

    Right off the bat, Emperor Shera has Entrust. And personally I think Entrust is one of the most underrated abilities so far in the game as there are some really powerful to almost broken LBs in the game that are definitely worth using. Support units like Knight Delita/Beatrix shine with their LB, LM Fina and Ayaka can be insane with their LBs and of course the infamous LT unit: Ang. Entrust is really good and for all the Tidus users out there: don't underestimate it! Glad that Emperor Shera has that going for him.

    There is one more supportive ability though. Command to Protect costs 72 MP, which is a lot, but can also do a lot. It's an AoE 80% DEF/SPR buff lasting for three turns as well as applying a 70% fire resistance buff to your party. Yes, currently most of us use some sort of buffer that has higher numbers on them, but I see this more as an emergency tool. If your bard for instance just died, having an 80% DEF/SPR buff available at all times can be a relief. It might just save you. Keep that in mind.

    It's time to take a german lesson as we have an awful amount of german ability names to look at. For whatever reason, maybe because it sounds so aggressively? And yes, I am german in case you wonder :p.

    The first one to look at is Schmerzen (eng.: pain / ache). Its first effect is a simple 320% 1-Hit fire modifier. Nothing too special. The second effect is what makes it more interesting to look at. Emperor Shera also imbues fire onto his physical attacks for 5 turns. This is a blessing because it counteracts one of his bigger weaknesses: the lack of good fire swords. There aren't any really strong fire Large Swords / Swords available that are not limited. Though there is a 120 ATK fire katana.

    Eroberung (eng.: conquest / capture) is an 8-Hit ST 420% modifier with a 3 turn 60% fire imperil attached to it. Ideally you will use this right after Schmerzen to fully take advantage of the "newly" gained fire element. This is more of a set up ability as well due to reasons I will come back to later on.

    Lastly we have Ende Streiten. There isn't a 1:1 german translation as this doesn't make a lot of sense. Anyway, nobody cares about that anyway. This is probably his most important ability as it's a 8-Hit ST 480% chaining move that can perfectly chain with a dupe with no issues. After you went through imbuing fire onto your physical attacks and then imperil fire by 60%, this will deal a fair amount of damage. But as usual, we will take a look at the maths later on.


    Cons:
    Emperor Shera's
    kit looked good so far, no? He sadly has many cons going for him that will make him end up not being exactly great.

    You might have noticed that I tried to make his base stats sound good. Well, they are! His base ATK however reminds me of Fohlen. 177 base ATK is about 10~14 lower of what we expect most new units to have. 189 mostly is the most common base ATK in the meta units. Being about 12 ATK lower than that means a 48 ATK drop with an ideal build and 48 ATK is definitely a damage loss that could have been prevented.

    Emperor Shera has two selfish buffs that aren't really worth using. The first one , Reinforcer, being a self 200% LB fillrate buff that lasts 3 turns while also increasing your ATK by 80%. The LB fillrate portion sounds nice but his LB isn't actually that good and the buff is outperformed by Eccentrick (Rikku's Pouch) by a lot. And an 80% ATK buff is only useful if you are completely new and have 0 buffs, which won't really happen.
    The second one being Unhesitating Will, the same one Loren has. A self all status break resistance. You do not want to use a turn to only increase the break resistance of ONE unit. Not worth using unless maybe a tank would have this.

    Sieg Zoldaad and Hellshaft aren't really up to date anymore. At least Hellshaft is a decent AoE attack for story events, but doesn't do anything else. Sieg Zoldaad is a low damage constant with an AoE 40% fire resistance buff. If you want a fire resistance buff, just use Command to Protect instead even if it's a lot more expensive.

    Sadly while Eroberung and Ende Streiten have the same frames, they do not share the same cast time. Which not only leads to them not perfectly chaining with each other (so one Emperor Shera could imperil while the other already uses the higher damage modifier), but it actually makes Eroberung unable to perfectly chain with itself and Dualwield. Emperor Shera also won't use TDH really because he wants to equip swords, which aren't particularly made for TDH builds. Thus Eroberung is a chaining move that can't perfectly chain with DW.

    The last con I want to mention lies within his own Limit Burst. It's an 11-Hit 940% (max) AoE modifier with a 40% all status ailments infliction and an AoE 30% damage mitigation. This sounds great at first sight, but it's full of flaws. His Limit Burst isn't really what you'd imagine of a 11-hitter because all the hits are very very delayed and can't build up a chain. Status ailments in content outside of the Arena also are basically useless except for Echidna and perhaps Malboro, while even then it's not that great. And lastly, the damage mitigation could have saved this Limit Burst. If it went up to 42% (similarly to Mystea) and lasted 3 turns, this LB no doubts would have been good. But the damage mitigation portion does not increase and only lasts 1 turn on top of that. Not a good Limit Burst.


    Side-Notes:
    Emperor Shera
    has a 7* + enhancements over at JP already.
    And let me say this: his upgrades are amazing. He goes from a utterly mediocre unit to one of the best ones.
    His Trust Master Ability adds a few killers, some auto LB and upgrades his LB so that it grants a 2 turn mitigation, some MP recover and AoE 25% killers for Aquan/Beast/Birds. However, this LB still isn't too great since it has the same issues as before and even 2 turns isn't necessarily worth using. Yes, you get a 25% killer, but you'd be better off just chaining in that turn.
    However, his 7* kit is massive. A huge part of this is that Emperor Shera gets 100% TDH AND W ability to use almost any of his moves except for his buffs and his CD abilities. While he also gains a 470% 7-Hit modifier that shares the same frames with the Divine Ruination family. Thus he chains with Hyou.
    Emperor Shera deals great damage, but doesn't top anyone. So how come he is considered to be one of the best DPS units?
    His Cooldown ability. He can imbue fire onto himself AND onto somebody else at the same time. Hyou's biggest issue is that he is not able to imbue elements. Emperor Shera does that for him. This is massive and makes Hyou + Emperor Shera a deadly DPS pairing.
    His 7* version is great and his STMR is insane for tanks.


    Best In Slot:
    Swords + Katana in a dualwield build. Again, nothing too crazy.
    Onion Sword (135 ATK)
    Hoemaru (120 ATK, Fire)
    Prishe's Hairpin (45 ATK)
    Cloud's Uniform (15 ATK) (Monster's Breastplate would only lead to a 3 ATK drop)
    Desch's Earring (45 ATK)
    Ring of the Lucii (30% ATK)
    Awesome Swordsman (DW, 30% ATK)
    Chosen One (50% ATK)
    Blade Mastery (50% ATK)
    ADV 5 (40% ATK)

    ATK with Bahamut:
    1132


    Arena:
    Emperor Shera
    doesn't contribute much to the Arena. He has some AoE attacks but no real status ailment protection, no TDH to hit evasion units, no W Ability, no status ailment infliction outside of his LB (not counting an AoE 30% paralyze). Yeah, you shouldn't use him in here.

    • Orlandeau has a couple of chain partners
    • Orlandeau can perfectly chain his only needed move
    Since Emperor Shera's imperilling move sadly can't perfect chain, this means that he receives a decent drop in damage. While he has some support options, most of them are outclassed by other units (especially his Limit Burst) and outside of that only provides an Entrust really. Orlandeau on the other hand has a ST 45% 5 turn ATK/MAG break, which can definitely be useful especially due to its duration.
    So how about the damage?
    ATK post 100% ATK buff: 1174 LH | 1184 RH
    Assuming spark chains
    AVG chain modifier for Eroberung: 1.55
    AVG chain modifier for Ende Streiten: 3.3

    Turn 1: 1174^2 x 4.2 x 1.55 + 1184^2 x 4.2 x 1.55 x 1.6 = 23,574,308
    Turn 2: 1174^2 x 4.8 x 3.3 x 1.6 + 1184^2 x 4.8 x 4 x 1.6 = 77,996,043
    Turn 3: 1174^2 x 4.8 x 3.3 x 1.6 + 1184^2 x 4.8 x 4 x 1.6 = 77,996,043
    Turn 4: 1174^2 x 4.8 x 3.3 x 1.6 + 1184^2 x 4.8 x 4 x 1.6 = 77,996,043

    AVG damage per rotation: 64,390,609
    ATK post 100% ATK buff: 1284 LH | 1289 RH
    Assuming spark chains
    AVG chain modifier for Divine Ruination: 3.21

    Turn 1: 1284^2 x 5.2 x 3.21 + 1289^2 x 5.2 x 4 x 1.5 = 79,358,821
    Turn 2: 1284^2 x 5.2 x 3.21 x 1.5 + 1289^2 x 5.2 x 4 x 1.5 = 93,118,504

    Damage after Turn 1: 93,118,504
    Yeah, unless Emperor Shera procs one of his innate killers, enhanced Orlandeau will outdamage him by about 32% compared to his average damage. From that we can take that Emperor Shera is on the low end of physical chainers in the current meta.
    Orlandeau wins.

    Just some random numbers.
    VS TDH FD e.Tidus: ~64% less damage (178,257,025 First + Second Rotation)
    VS DH Prompto: ~52% less damage (132,404,448 AVG per Rotation)
    VS TDH FD e.Aileen: ~37% less damage (100,851,726 AVG per Rotation)


    Trust Master Reward:
    This TMR is actually really good. 50% ATK and 10% HP? Yes, please. Similarly to Dark Knight's Soul it has two requirements: Swords AND Light Armor. Thus you won't be able to use it with Dark Knight's Soul as DKS requires heavy armor. The synergy however differs. DKS uses heavy armor and SSP-Dark also uses heavy armors and a total of 60% ATK, thus 110% ATK. If you equip Light Armors, you won't be able to go for SSP-Dark as well. So either for units that can't equip H.Armor / Large Swords it's great or for Emperor Shera himself because he's using Katanas alongside Swords. The lack of synergy makes it pretty meh compared to DKS.


    Conclusion:
    Emperor Shera is an investment for the future.
    Right now he is a mid to low tier damage dealing unit. The lack of perfect chains on Eroberung and the fact that he doesn't have high base ATK alongside mediocre damage modifiers just makes him bad.
    His supportive capabilities are easily passable, his LB also won't do a lot. Some of his other abilities are outdated. Even his TMR is quite situational as most units that do equip a Sword TMR will most likely prefer DKS due to the synergy with Large Swords alongside SSP-Dark.
    Which basically makes him only really useful in the future for most that pull him. I already explained briefly why his 7* is that great and this is the sole reason why you should not feel too bad about pulling him. You know he will shine in the future.
    That pretty much sums it up. Not great now, great in the future. Just gotta wait a little longer.

    Not even sure what to say here sadly. I never was really attached to Shera (even though I did enjoy the SE a bit), his sprite looks weird to me thus I don't really feel like using him either. In the future maybe, but I love Tidus way too much to bench him.

    @Memel0rd, you forgot to mention his LB has one of the best animations of any unit ever. There’s something incredibly satisfying about seeing him command all his troops to attack an enemy.

    Great review meme! I am planning to pull for hyoh, so emperor shera would be a solid option as a partner. However, the banner is not very attractive with CG jake there... plus using both of them in the future means more TDH gear::rudecat4::

    I just got all of mines starting from the Ang banner and like maybe last week got the last glove. I got lucky and got Explorer Aileen too. So honestly we still have a ways to for Hyou.

    If u want someone to imbue an element 7 star CG Sakura is good too and u don’t have to worry about tdh gear for her bro.
