A female dragoon appearing on battlefields throughout the world. She has been incredibly successful over many a battle. Attacking from high above, riding atop her red dragon as she brings death to those below, she has come to be known among mercenaries as the "Crimson Death." On the other hand, she believes strongly in strengthening the bonds between dragons and humans, and though she loves them very much, she is not opposed to punishing those who step out of line. She has an incredibly strong bond with the dragon she travels along with.
I'm really not sure what to say. Woof? Also her enhancement texts are way too long.

    Pre-Enhancements:
    My old Reberta review: https://brave-exvius.com/threads/unit-review-reberta-final-fantasy-brave-exvius.15091/

Reberta upon release was a very interesting unit. Or at least a new unit with a new "mechanic".
Her base ATK definitely is quite high, though the other base stats are a bit lackluster. Low HP and lowish DEF/SPR. Though her ATK passives were definitely above average during her time with 80% totally once you equipped spears. She also has 20% HP/DEF, which is nice to have.
Her equipment selection is quite limited. Daggers, Swords and Spears, that's pretty much it. Mostly you want to use fire / ice / lightning damage with Reberta and sadly the available options aren't particularly strong weapons for that.

What made her this interesting was her kit. Reberta was either able to chain regularly with Mystic Thrust or use delayed chains combined with an inbuild jump finisher!

If you went for the Mystic Thrust route, utilising her three different breath moves that imperil the enemy's ice, lightning or fire resistance by 50%, was not only great to set up her own damage output but also made Mystic Thrust an AoE move. Usually it's a ST 400% 7-hit chain, but the turn after you used a breath it turns into an AoE 400% 7-Hit move. Many people really liked this feature as the two prominent chainers back then were Orlandeau and Fryevia, both locked to ST damage.
This fell off over the time quickly as it required additional setup turns and doesn't have an innate imperil. Nowadays it's really weak.

However, Reberta has a second option to deal damage, too. Death Crimson is a really interesting jump. If you just use it regularly, you get a bad 300% 1 turn delay jump...
If you used it after Jump, Recovery Jump or Raging Thrust (basically only Raging Thrust because it had no delay), you got an additional 7-Hit delayed chain with a 450% modifier alongside the 300% jump. This means she CAN self finish her own chain. With Reberta's innate 200% jump boost, her jump damage had an effective 900% modifier. This is a lot of damage!
But there's a huge con that prevented this from being remotely strong. While you have to use up a turn to unlock this jump, the jump is delayed, too. So you use up 3 turns for dealing damage once basically.
Also, a more or less stupid mechanic completely ruins this move, even post enhancements. I will go into that in the next section.
    TL;DR: You didn't use it.

Which made Reberta a strong chainer for a short amount of time and then fell under the radar. Until she got enhancements, of course!

    Post-Enhancements:
    Reberta's
    still a damage dealing unit.

Pike Master +2 grants an additional 50% ATK and 50% jump damage. This is nice as it will help out both her Mystic Thrust route and her Death Crimson route. Fair enough, but that's already one out of three enhancements.

Reberta now has a very consistent chain partner! Yey! Or rather two. Mystic Thrust +1/+2 stops moving and gains a new hit + new frames. An 8-Hit move with a 500% modifier. That's right, Reberta now chains with Prompto's Circular Saw and Sephiroth's Octoslash! In the future with Gabranth, too.
However, it's not only a 500% modifier. If you use a breath move beforehand, Reberta will attack all enemies. This mechanic we already knew about. The new one is that if you use Mystic Thrust +2 first, all of the breaths receive increased numbers. Their respective imperil lasts 5 turns AND imperils by 75%! Works very well for herself and for her chaining partners.
We'll check out her damage output with that later on.

Lastly Death Crimson +2, which now utilises the previous combo. Its numbers go up to a 700% delayed chain and a 550% jump. Her innate jump boosts + the one she will gain from the build I provide later on ramps this self finisher up to crazy high numbers. Death Crimson+ gets unlocked by her Breaths, too, thus ideally you will use the later mentioned rotation.
Now, why does Death Crimson +2 perform way worse than it sounds?
The problem lies within its own mechanics.
Her delayed chain is fine. It always spark chains as it is supposed to do. However, they didn't think everything through. Reberta's self finisher is coded as a jump so it can benefit from the jump boosts. But being a jump means you have a certain frame window in which you will RANDOMLY land. It will not land in the same frames every time.
After some serious testing, I can safely say that her self finisher almost never hits the delayed chains and often ends up getting no chain boost. Very rarely it will and creates a monstrous damage spike, but it's so rare that I won't take it into consideration.
This issue did not get fixed through her enhancements.

It's time for the two builds and then the damage comparisons.

    Best In Slot:
A build revolving around Mystic Thrust and one revolving around Death Crimson. Ice is her strongest element, but you can easily swap to fire / thunder weapons.
    Northern Lights (120 ATK, Ice)
    Onion Sword (135 ATK)
    Rider's Helm (28 ATK)
    Cloud's Uniform (15 ATK)
    Desch's Earring x2 (90 ATK)
    Awesome Swordsman (DW, ATK +15%)
    Dragoon's Pride (60% ATK)
    Chosen One (50% ATK)
    Sworn Six's Pride - Wind (50% ATK)

    ATK with Bahamut:
    1204
    Fryevia's Needle (92 ATK, Ice)
    Dragon's Whisker (138 ATK, 50% Jump Boost)
    Riders Helm (28 ATK)
    Cloud's Uniform (15 ATK)
    Dragoon's Gauntlet (100% Jump Boost)
    Desch's Earring (45 ATK)
    Awesome Swordsman (DW, 15% ATK)
    Dragoon's Pride (60% ATK)
    Chosen One (50% ATK)
Sworn Six's Pride - Wind (50% ATK, 25% jump boost)

    ATK with Bahamut:
    1134

    425% jump boost

    Reberta [IMG]Damage Output

I'll also add the damage comparisons immediately. One spoiler for her Mystic Thrust rotations and one for her Death Crimson one. The difference is that Mystic Thrust has two chain partners, Death Crimson requires dupe units and both need to have a jump build.
The Death Crimson maths take into consideration that her self finisher only lands one out of four from both rebertas. The other hits build their own mini chain. (fixed)

That being said, when you compare Reberta with very cheap builds that don't even include 5* base tmrs, she performs relatively better. Her BiS build doesn't add a lot of ATK compared to others.

    Recommendation:
Pike Master: Definitely enhance this if you are going to use Reberta. It adds 50% ATK and for her jump damage it's adding 50% additional jump modifiers. The cost isn't expensive but also not cheap while using up Tech crysts. Shouldn't be hard to enhance.

Mystic Thrust: If you are using Reberta either regularly with Mystic Thrust or with Death Crimson, you have to enhance this. Once fully enhanced it can grant you access to the improved breaths, which are essential for both Reberta usages. Now she will also be able to chain with Prompto and Sephiroth. If you are lacking a chain partner for 10 man trials, Reberta is definitely a great choice. Especially due to her 3 different 75% imperils. However, it has the highest cost available and is using Power crysts, so this might be very hard to get to.

Death Crimson: This enhancement is a pain to get. If you are only using Reberta to get a chaining partner, you can skip this easily. However, if you want to maximise her own damage output, you will need this. Death Crimson can deal a lot of damage, but needs a very specific build to get there and sadly won't proc her self finish almost always. For many this enhancement is also a skip because in order to maximise her damage, you need to fully enhance Mystic Thrust. Sadly, Death Crimson and Mystic Thrust have the same cost and the same crysts, so you'd spend a total of 4m Gil, 8 Power T5s and 24 Power T4s. This is a VERY costly enhancement and I do not recommend getting it.

    Conclusion:
    Reberta
has high damage potential locked behind super costly enhancement.
With Mystic Thrust Reberta becomes a very nice 10 man trial unit. She can chain with Sephiroth and Prompto and can easily set them up nicely. Prompto can utilise her 75% imperil, but doesn't need to. Sephiroth on the other hand can provide light / dark imperils if you want Reberta to go for that or Reberta can provide ice, fire and lightning imperils to make Sephiroth more versatile. There are many elemental options, which might make her a good unit to choose for these.
Then we have her jump build. Personally I think the enhancements are way too costly and the main issue with her jumps are that she can't really utilise finishers properly. Pretty much not being able to utilise finishers at all with Death Crimson, which can be an issue. Not many people are using finishers, but especially with the introduction of Eiko and Yuna, using a healer that can use Espers to finish is a nice way to finish off an enemy: especially for esper missions. This makes her somewhat of a semi-chainer like Ang and thus won't make it into my rankings even though she technically tops Sephiroth.
Generally Reberta is a good unit now, but expensive. Overall I only recommend enhancing Mystic Thrust for chain partners.

I still don't know what to say about Reberta. Woof again? The review contains so much colour already, I barely want to change anything.

I am a little sad to hear this. Well, I guess Noctis is getting my reserved power T5 then (still missing one more). (Provoke/Finisher-Hybrid and Buffer/Finisher-Hybrid for my team.)

Damn. Too bad, cause if she could self finish reliably she would be a monster.

Uhhhh..... the costs! Hurts! Hurts! Hurts! I'd rather enhance queen, though i REALLY like her mechanics. Pulled her a few days ago.

Anyway, thanks for the review! Quick question: How long the average timespan for you to write a complete review? Pure curiosity.

I suppose this is as close as we'll get for a good dragoon unit. ::sorry::
So sad, such wasted potential. They look so cool.

Often including the maths. I rarely do them beforehand. That's why I said 2-3 hours. E.g. Mramza took 2+ hours, too.

Ouh, then you're fast! i took longer for the few Item-posts i did. Thanks for the info ::up::

Aranea is a pretty good Dragoon too. I have one in my friend list. If i take her as a friend unit i don't need any other DD, buffer or breaker. Seriously, she just rips worlds apart!

I really want to use Reberta as my main damage dealer, but with the delay jump finish pseudobug is more like a meeh.

I wish they will fix it in her 7 star form

Reberta back into the mix at least. For OTKO/Threshold skip those Jumps are nice tho if done properly

For OTKO not really. Most OTKO strategies involve finishers.

I understand that. but 300M+ in "fake" damage isnt shabby at all, especially in dragon types where her killer will kick in. then your other units can do what they do to add to the damage/survival for that turn (if doing a threshold skip)

YEAH BUDDY, Ang delayed spark chains are SICKKKKK but lets be nice to Reberta today. LOL. She is the one who began the trend of "delayed, uncontrollable chains" on the game for us actually, so of course she isnt always gonna get it right. LOL. Ang and Kelsus watched her so they learned to perfect it. LMAOOO

Still trying to decide on enhancing Death Crimson or just finishing fully enhancing Knight Delita (Commanding Blade).
    *sigh*

Nice review, I wish Restorative Breath/Ignitos Bond/Dragoon Meister had enhancements too. Or enhance all breath like OK in the future::rudecat2::
