A young woman who appears in the tales of a world divided into four nations that individually control their own unique Crystals. Rem is a student of Akademeia and an expert in magic who was promoted directly from Class Seventh to Class Zero. Unfortunately, she contracted an incurable disease during her infancy that she currently represses with the aid of a particulary potent medicine. Its side effects, however, are the source behind her incessant coughing and the horrible pain she endures night after night. Regardless of the true state of her health, Rem always does her best to act normal around her classmates.
Remember when I did that awful Skyrim joke at the beginning?

    Pre-Enhancements:
Here is the link to the rather old and outdated Rem review, but should cover many aspects:
    https://brave-exvius.com/threads/unit-review-rem-final-fantasy-type-0.15469/

About her current position in the meta, she fell off quite a bit.
Both as healer and as damage dealer. Dagger Boomerang helped her out a lot and she can still function as a somewhat decent finisher, but is heavily outperfomed by enhanced Emperor. As a healer, units like enhanced Luka, Tilith and Ayaka , even Charming Kitty Ariana outclassed her.

Rem's biggest weakness is low modifiers and having a standard curaga, which is getting less and less useful. She fared really well, but the powercreep caught up with her kit. She also has very weak defensive stats as her base HP is mediocre and she does not have any innate HP boosts.

Another major issue with her Reraise ability is, that it can't be used while healing, making it not turn efficient at all.

Overall she started out as almost meta breaking unit, but now is only a somewhat decent finisher and almost a poor man's healer.

    Post-Enhancements:
Gladly, GL received different enhancements from what the JP version got, which might just saved her from completely dying out, and may also help her in the far future with 7*s.

Some of her issues got fixed quite well and are almost completely negated, but Rem still faces some major issues here and there.

Sharp Resolution is one of those abilities that just grant her so much. With Sharp Resolution +2 , Rem gains another 30% HP/MAG/SPR and 10% all element resistance, not only helping her survivability a lot, but increasing her damage potential!

On the other hand, as straight up comparison, Undying Wish +2 doesn't do anything basically. The Auto-revive goes up to 100% and lasts 5 turns, but it's still not turn efficient at all, which was its biggest problem. Compared to units like Charming Kitty Ariana or Ayaka, who can heal why using their Reraise, it's just way worse and thus not the best option to use.

But her healing aspects still got a significant buff. Not only went Raise from basically a miserable raise to almost a 100% raise, but Curaga also got 600 higher base heal, making the DC version significantly more efficient as well as with the previous 30% SPR buff, which makes it slightly better. So overall, yes, Raise +2 and Curaga +2 could have been better since they do not match the power of Curaja, but they are still decent options, making Rem move up a bit in the healer ladder.

And for the last, but most likely best enhancement, we have her famous global move Dagger Boomerang. Previously going up to a maximum of 620% mod, but being able to use twice due to its game coding and interaction with Dual Wield, it now goes up to a 860% mod per use, making Dagger Boomerang +2 a great enhancement! However, how does she fare against Enhanced Emperor now? Let's find out!

Enhanced Rem [IMG] VS [IMG] Enhanced Emperor
    • Emperor has higher base HP and MAG, but 20% less MAG passives
    • Rem has higher base SPR and 100% higher SPR passives
    • Emperor has a 75% camouflage
    • Emperor can survive three fatal attacks
    • Emperor can break SPR by 50% while buffing his MAG by 200%
    • Emperor imperils fire by 50% and goes up to a 2500%
    • Rem has higher elemental versatility
    • Emperor is locked into fire element
    • Rem is a really strong red mage
It's obvious that Rem will not be able to outdamage Emperor when you only compare the max modifiers of each of them. Since Emperor has a 2500% modifier against Rem's 1720% modifier, while Emperor also has his innate 50% fire imperil AND a 200% self MAG buff, so there is that.
The following will only be a turn to turn comparison with ONLY the modifiers, no magic values, no magic buffs or imperils, only base mods. So it is inaccurate, as Rem is able to equip physical killers.
    Rem
    Turn 1: 200% + 310%
    Turn 2: 420% (lol) + 530%
    Turn 3: 640% + 750%
    Turn 4: 860% + 860%
    Turn X: 860% + 860%

    Emperor
    Turn X: 250% + X*250%
    Turn 7: 2000% mod

Rem average at turn 7: 1390%
Emperor average at turn 7: 1000%

    Rem AVG T8: 1431,25%
    Emperor AVG T8: 1125%

    Rem AVG T9: 1463,3%
    Emperor AVG T9: 1250%

    Rem AVG T10: 1489%
    Emperor AVG T10: 1375%

    Rem AVG T11: 1510%
    Emperor AVG T11: 1500%

    Rem AVG T12: 1527,5%
    Emperor AVG T12: 1625%
So you can see, on turn 11 Emperor's modifiers will be higher. But only the modifiers, including his innate 200% MAG buff it will most likely be around Turn 7-8 already and if you also use a weird element with Rem most likely another turn earlier. However, Rem still has her great Red Mage aspects and very high SPR even when building MAG. And many fights easily go up to that length, so overall I can say this without hesitating:
    Emperor wins.

    Recommendation:
    Sharp Resolution
: Definitely enhance. It fixes Rem's massive HP issues in fights as it grants her 30% HP, but also another 30% MAG/SPR and 10% all element resistance for the trade off pretty expensive amount of guard crystals, but it's worth it if you want to keep using Rem.

Undying Wish: You can easily skip that, unless you really need that 100% HP reraise on somebody like your tank. And even then, you will most likely not need the +2 upgrade, the Reraise should be applied if your tank is actually in danger. This enhancements uses the very rarely used healing mats, so just go for it, if you need it.

Raise: Semi-Definitely enhance this. An important aspect in her red mage capabilities, as it makes her 30% HP Raise go up to a 95% one and it's super cheap. It's only using up T1, T2 and T3 white crystals with very low amounts of Gil, almost for free.

Curaga: Definitely enhance (starts to sound like a mini-meme). Just like Raise, it's really cheap and is using white crysts, while adding a total of 600 base heal to her Curaga, making it both a lot more efficient for the healer and the red mage path and makes Rem quite a decent healer again.

Dagger Boomerang: Only enhance if used as a mage / red mage. This enhancement uses up black crysts and is rather expensive, while purely adding damage, which is only needed for the mage and red mage route. So if you use her damage, go for it. If you only use her as a healer, skip this.

If you combine all these enhancements as one, they will all add up really well to her as a red mage, both the healer path and mage path get a few tweaks here and there, but not the biggest, meta-defining impact.

    Conclusion:
    Rem's
enhancements overall are good to see, her JP enhancements would have dropped her on cold ice.
But the GL ones will keep her up for a while again. Her main advantage is the versatility mid fight to switch from a decent DPS to a decent healer, but she is not the best in any of both roles. Emperor, Tilith and Ayaka will all keep being the stronger options, but Rem can combine two roles, not at excellency, but in a good paste
So overall, Rem becomes relevant again, but will mostly keep being used by people who really like her. For those who own Emperor, Ayaka or Tilith, you will most likely not find too much use in her enhancements.

And that's it! Finally it's out, many people requested the Rem review, so I hope you enjoyed it, even though I am not completely satisfied with the outcome, I do have to say that the future Rem 7* is one of my favorite units and personally I think quite underrated.

    Thanks Meme!
i learn, not so long ago, her aoe MP drain is a limited Materia. God, i feared her so much in Arena! more than Noctis. But when i learned about her Materia, it look like there is not so many people with both Rem & materia so... (or i'm lucky in arena?!?)

Anyway, can you do a little comparaision for her healer aspect? i'm still lock with Luka you know... FeelBad, i don't have Rem either tho, but who know...

They have similar survivability, but Rem has higher SPR. Use the healer formula + the SPR on your Rem and see wether or not you outheal Luka.

I would compare her with enhanced Luneth. I mean, her Dagger Boomerang is a physical skill that scales in mag damage. Try her dagger boomerang against Bloody Moon, it would say "physical resist". She's "not" a magic finisher like Emperor.

I my opinion Rem definitely wins against Emperor, why because her base modifier is 1720 now lets see if u have Tidus or christine in your team. That 100% imperil on the element and her base mod will jump around 3440. Her DB scales around mag so u are not losing on any damage when using DW. And it hits twice so u can fit 2 hits in long chain easily for example E.tt, Tidus, Barb and even christine. On top of that she can abuse many killers. she can be even built around LA's too because she can use swords.

I still would have loved to see her JP enhancements on her -aga spells. Since we have that mechanic that allows for consecutive use skills to stack, you'd be able to stack her -aga spells along with her Dagger Boomerang.

-aja tier spells are very powerful (my Grim Sakura says hello) and personally even if they aren't on the same tier as -aja, her enhanced -aga spells would have been another useful thing to add to her kit. Even with dual cast, her elemental spells are 100% useless now.

    1720% * 2 = 3440%
    2500% * 1.5 = 3750%

    ??? Lol
Yes. She can utilise killers, but water element already drops her mag significantly and mages can Use killers too from Barbariccia tmr and will get more options in the future.

Is this how these are decided? I feel like future options and current meta should be separate categories if future materia/TMRs are to be considered at all. As it is it's far easier to stack physical killers on pretty much any enemy type in the current meta. Maybe that'll change in the future, and it's likely... but there are no guarantees. It would make more sense to add an additional rating category for how future proof a unit is.

While I get why Emperor outpaces Rem, I also think it's worth noting at least that she gets boosts from weapon elements and physical killer passives, since those can grossly increase her damage output with the right team... especially when one of the highest MAG weapons in the game currently is an ice sword and we are seeing a ton of ice elemental units with middling-to-high ice imperils lately.

That is exactly my point Rem can fit into any team comp but Emperor can't.

I did some maths a while ago. Assuming no fire weakness/imperil (which would seriously skew calculations for a obvious winner) & all else equal (in retrospect, highly unrealistic), Rem needs 120% in killers to absolutely outdamage Emperor. If you give rem a non-fire element, this skews this dynamic in her favor, but either way gearing up on killers/elements will take room otherwise used on MAG boosts, making comparisons difficult.

Either way she scales up much faster than Emperor, which might give her a niche in battles that have a time limit.

Yes u have made a good point Rem suppose with 100% imperil from turn 4 onward 3440%. And Emperor on other hand from turn 10 onward 3750%.
