A knight of the Kingdom of Grandshelt. Lasswell came to learn a great many things during his journey to save the Crystals that shaped both his body and mind. Although his relationship with Rain has been defined in great part by a rivalry that causes him to feel inferior at times, the friendship they share remains unchanged. Ever the hard worker, his newly polished skills with the katana are proof of his progress and effort.
Oh my lassworm, finally you are here boy. Thanks to @TheRunawayGirl for the fanart!

    Pros:
I will never get used to Pyro Glacial Lasswell.... bear with me.

PG Lasswell has beautiful base stats. Very high HP/ATK/DEF/SPR base stats, what do you want more from him? His base ATK is one of the highest in the game and he gets 5% MP refresh. Once you equip him with a Katana, he gets 60% ATK and 10% DEF/SPR, while equipping a large sword will grant him 30% HP/MP, so combining these and you get really solid stats. PG Lasswell is resistant to paralyze, confuse and petrify, all are really good resistances!

However, PG Lasswell has something that makes it easily available for everyone to get both his katana and his large sword passive. With Scarlet Blade Oath he gets DW Large Swords/Katanas! Really good for both beginners and experienced players. But even better for beginners, PG Lasswell can also equip the Lasswell Exclusive equipment! So definitely check that out if you can. He also has a 40% physical chance to counter with Mirror of Equity, fine enough.

Now, we get to several of PG Lasswell's moves that he has.

The first one we are talking about got a global upgrade! Moonlight Fall is a 190% modifier with a 45% SPR break and a 40 MP recover to himself. With DW, this will effectively heals 55 MP (because the ability costs 25 MP) and can set up Fatal Bloom and Crimson Era for one turn. I will talk about them later on. All in one, this is nice if you run into MP issues with PG Lasswell while unlocking two of his strong abilities.

Blade Flash - Awakened on the other side is the second global upgraded ability. It's a ~160% mod that also imperils ice by 50% and decreases the enemy's DEF by 40%. So far not that amazing, but it also unlocks Blade Flash - Final for one turn, too! Again, I will talk about that later.

Before I talk about his last ability, let us have a look at Exorcising Storm. This is a great arena ability as we will see later on because it attacks two times, thus making it able to hit for 3996 damage with DW on PG Lasswell, which he innately has! Woo. But PG Lasswell has a niche ability, too!

Mirror of Life is a 350% modifier with a self 1 turn 300% LB fillrate buff! This is basically so niche that you will only use it, if you didn't get his Limit Burst. But as you will see later on, you will see why this is niche.

So far his unlocking abilities weren't that great, right? Just wait for a second. Because Crimson Flash unlocks all three abilities for one turn, while having a 400% modifier and a 45% DEF break! So far, this seems like the best option, but there is an even better one?

Yes, his Limit Burst. Before I keep elaborating on it, please max it out, it has a huge effect on him.
His maxed Limit Burst not only has a 1580% modifier and imperils Ice/Fire by 50%, but grants Blade Flash - Final, Fatal Bloom AND Crimson Era for FIVE turns! That's a veeeery long time! Just amazing. PG Lasswell also gets 100% hightide passives.
While it needs 45 whopping LB crysts, you have 100% Hightide on PG Lasswell and five turns to fill it up again. Add a Rikku's Pouch Eccentrick somewhere and you will get it far easier than you might think first.

While all three abilities buff his own ATK by 100%, they do different things. Fatal Bloom has a 675% modifier with a 50% ice imperil and innate ice damage, Crimson Era is the same but for fire and the global upgraded Blade Flash - Final is a non elemental 1050% finisher! Holy balls, this is a strong finisher move.

    Cons:
Pyro Glacial Lasswell has an awful name
    .

For real, he has some issues that we will cover.

Starting of with his MP. Just give it a look, it's pretty meh, not too bad, and gets 30% MP if you equip large swords on him. However, his MP costs are tremendously. Crimson Flash takes up 45 MP but the unlocked abilities all use up 58 MP per turn! And after you used his LB, you will use them A LOT! So definitely watch out for that.

All of PG Lasswell's ATK passives are restricted to katanas. The True Doublehand build will suffer a lot from that, because he will use a large sword. However, we will compare the damage later on! But as it is, you almost have to equip katanas or you won't get much.

His Limit Burst needs a looot of LB crysts
. 45?! If you do not have Rikku's Pouch to use on turn 1, you will have to wait probably 3 to 4 turns to get it, which is a big drop in damage. You really want to use his Limit Burst for the first time as fast as possible, because from there onwards you should be able to remain the rotation. I mean, to get a LB every 5 turns should be easily doable with PG Lasswell, even with a lot of crysts needed.

Sadly his global upgraded Blade Flash - Awakened and Moonlight Fall aren't that good as you will see later on. Actually, they barely matter. They still deal miserable damage and don't even unlock all abilities for 1 turn, only some of them. They are only good if you have to set up your own team with the Ice imperil or so, but even then, there are mostly better options.

And honestly, as long as his damage will be decent, there aren't too many cons with him at this point in the meta. I will talk about it a bit more in the side-notes, but there isn't too much to talk about.
Because PG Lasswell's kit is very linear. Similar like Luneth, he only damage, but also imperils and breaks partially, doesn't do anything actually supportive though.

    Side-Notes:
PG Lasswell does have a 7* version in the JP version, but no enhancements
. And his 7* is really good.
PG Lasswell gets True Doublewield, very high stats from Espers, a great Super Trust Master Reward, a chaining move that chains with Orlandeau and also higher modifiers, making him a really strong overall unit. He does not exceel at anything specifically, but he does many things as a damage dealer.
However, his 6* form will most likely fall out of the meta eventually as True Doublehand becomes more and more important and harder for him to utilise. Let's have a look on the his damage and then compare it to other units.

    Best In Slot:
Regular DW build. This will be important for his damage comparison to other units.
Keep in mind, my DW build is not BiS, Crimson Saber and Purple Lightning is SLIGHTLY stronger, but lacks the phys evasion and MP counters while also not being future proof.

    Arena:
    PG Lasswell
is really good in here for a physical damage dealer. He has a guaranteed 3996 damage AoE move as long as you have high enough ATK and it hits, he has high HP and status ailment protection. What do you need more? He's pretty damn good in here.

Pyro Glacial Lasswell [IMG] VS [IMG] Nyx
    • PG Lasswell has higher base stats and 30% higher ATK
    • PG Lasswell uses DW, Nyx uses TDH FD
    • PG Lasswell has higher defensive passives
    • Nyx has 30% physical evasion
    • Both use the fire element
    • PG Lasswell has far better status ailment protection
    • Nyx has great breaks
    • PG Lasswell has inbuild imperils
    • Nyx can infuse fire
    • Nyx loses 20% HP when using his Desperate Blow
Let's just jump into the important part, Finisher VS Finisher.

Pyro Glacial Lasswell [IMG] VS [IMG] Veritas of the Flames
    • Pyro Glacial Lasswell has higher base stats and 40% higher ATK
    • PG Lasswell uses DW
    • VotF uses TDH FD
    • Both have good defensive passives
    • Both have great status ailment protection
    • VotF can get a 150% ATK buff through having low HP
    • VotF is RNG reliant due to his counters
    • VotF absorbs fire damage
    • VotF fits into many team comps due to his high element versatility
    • VotF has an AoE 20% mitigation buff
I'm still sitting on a formula with DefiantHermit in a real scenario where we use a Provoke Tank + Mystea, but I can already tell you, even my very lucky VotF maths over at the Cloud Review were relatively underwhelming compared to Nyx, so let's check them out with PG Lasswell (might not be realistic).
    BiS with Bahamut: 856
    After 100% ATK buff: 1045
Assuming he gets 1~2 hits per turn and gets lucky Uplift counters.
Not taking the 150% ATK self buff into account.

    Turn 1: 1045^2 x 3.85 x 3 x 4 = 50,451,555
    Turn 2: 1045^2 x 3.85 x 5 x 4 x 1.5 = 126,128,888
    Turn 3: 1045^2 x 3.85 x 10 x 4 x 1.5 = 252,257,775
    Turn 4: 1045^2 x 3.85 x 5 x 4 x 1.5 = 126,128,888
    Turn 5: 1045^2 x 3.85 x 10 x 4 x 1.5 = 252,257,775

    DPT per Rotation: 161,444,976
Aaaand Veritas of the Flames wins.

    Trust Master Reward:
It's basically a better Wisdom (Queen's TMR). It has 30% HP/ATK and 25% LB fillrate, being the perfect option if you already cap ATK and will be very important in the future as we cap on ATK faster and faster. Currently not the absolute best, but a good investment.

    Conclusion:
    Pyro Glacial Lasswell
    is alright.
First I was very hyped about his Global Upgrades, making him stronger than first supposed. And he does deal a lot of damage, but it's not competitive enough to be outright insane, which should be somewhat obviously with a Dualwield user. Though as long as you do not use any True Doublehand gear, he's the best option.
However, in the future, his 7* will be very good as well. Not the absolute best, but very versatile and also will be stronger in the GL version because our Blade Flash - Final already is stronger than the JP counterpart.
Overall please don't pull for him unless you really really want him or do not own TDH TMRs. While he is pretty good and has a good TMR, the rest of the banner is absolutely ... shit. Wait for tomorrow's Jiraiya Review, who is the other 5* banner.

Thanks everybody for reading! This was a rollercoaster of hype-emotions for me. First I thought his damage was outright insane! Before I saw I forgot the 100% ATK buffs to the other units.... Meh.

Great review! The additional 7* information about him was really good. ::up::

Why do I always see these small details...
This should be 40% for the 2nd build.

Nice review! Honestly I think he looks quite good, not everyone has a TDH setup especially f2p or even dolphins so i think he’ll be pretty nice. I know I’ll never have a TDH FD setup along with a bunch of people

I like how they finally release a unit with easily obtainable BiS / near BiS.

Would you compare damage to using 3 chainers instead of 2 chainers/pgl?

I'd really like to get him. I always liked him more than the Rain fellow, but since all base story units are shit, I didn't even awaken him to 6* yet ::innocent::

Yes, that's probably his main strength :) One of the best pick up units in general.

Im pretty pumped about PG Lasswell, they story mode focuses more on him than Rain in my book so I became more of a Lasswell fan also. (I wont spoil the story for those who havent seen it yet) you couldnt help but feel for him lol. He is literally a BIS with only 2 5* tmr, and without Prishe hairpin he can still reach near BIS ATK stats easily. Im pulling for him, thanks for the review @Memel0rd

I have Nyx and can get FD, but only 1 Elfreeda. If i get the TDH setup while pulling for PG Lasswell, then ill stop pulling for him lol
