A young summoner who appears in the tales of another world where its people are trapped in a spiral of death. Yuna was raised by Wakka and Lulu since she was a girl, and has thus come to see them as her older siblings. Her father, High Summoner Braska, once defeated the undying evil entity known as Sin and inspired her to become a summoner as well. As fate would have it, she would eventually cross paths with Tidus, the son of Braska's friend Jecht. With Tidus as part of her guardians during her pilgrimage to defeat Sin, they traveled together as their parents had done before them.
As a small disclaimer: I am writing this review on a pretty mediocre laptop because I am currently at a friend's place. I will skip the ability list because of that. My apologies.
As a huge FFX fan I am very happy to see more FFX units finally appearing in the game! Yuna is definitely a unit me and others (like Claic) were looking forward to! :)

Increase DEF/SPR (124%) for 3 turns to all allies

    Pros:
    Yuna
is a very interesting unit, so let's just jump right into it!

Not only does she bring up nostalgic memories, but her base stats are also nifty. With good base HP/MP, decent DEF/MAG, and high SPR her healer/summoner theme definitely shines through if you take a closer look. Passive wise Yuna is well rounded(?). With 30% MP/MAG/SPR and 50% higher ATK/DEF/MAG/SPR stats from espers, Yuna will have a decent balance in every stat. Her innate 20% all element resistance helps out in that as well to make her more suitable for different fights. Besides that, she does have 5% innate MP refresh and paralyze + confusion resistance. Pretty neat.

Covering the summoner passives that Yuna has to offer, she does have innate 50% EVO MAG and can summon any esper from your party. This especially can be great since we got Ifrit 3* today who can deal very heavy damage as a summon. Bahamut and Leviathan are great Esper finishers as well. But the EVO MAG passive will become important later on as well...

Before we get to her abilities, I want to take a look at her spells she offers. Because Yuna does not only offer white magic, but also some green magic. Yey!
Most importantly Yuna does have (matching the FFX elements) a bar-ga spell for thunder, water, fire and ice damage. This is not bad at all, she has half of the FFBE elements covered to offer your team a 70% element resistance buff. Niche but neat!

Though you might be more interested to use her white magic. Why? Yuna has Curaga. Hm okay, not the best spell, but decent. However, Yuna alongside LM Fina and Ayaka is one of the units who is blessed with a Reraise spell. Reraise is probably the best white magic spell currently and it really helps Yuna becoming more desirable in a team. She also has Raise, but that's pretty standard. Great selection of spells despite the lack of the OP Curaja.

Prayer of the Aeons is Yuna's only tool to increase your esper gauge with. Averagely you will gain 3 esper orbs per usage, 2~4 randomly. While also increasing her own MAG/SPR by 100%. It's a nice buff if you are lacking buffers (especially useful for beginners) or if you simply don't run a buffer because you are clearing event content. Outside of that, it's basically only there to fill up your esper gauge. Fair enough.

Before I go on, I have to explain what evoke damage is. It's "a new" type of damage we have not seen before.
Evoke damage is a combination of your EVO MAG (summon damage) and a MAG/SPR hybrid. It deals magic damage, but ignores mitigation and physical / mag resistance, your weapon's element and your own killers. There is a nice post by Cysidus on Reddit as well as a good video Howl released. I will link you to both of them in case you are interested in learning more about Evoke Damage.
    Cysidus: https://redd.it/88yp3o
    Howl:

Yuna now goes ahead and uses Valefor and her two Overdrives. The first one being Energy Ray, an AoE 1-Hit 900% evoke modifier. Differing from old habits, this ability does not cost MP unlike usual abilities, but it costs Esper Gauge. This one costs 3 esper orbs, which is very easy to get, so you might as well be able to spam this constantly.

Though Energy Blast is where it's at. An ST 1-Hit 2000% evoke modifier with a 5 esper orb cost! Not bad at all, while this doesn't deal as much as Espers do, it only costs half of what an Esper would normally cost. I think that's a fair trade-off since you can use Yuna as healer and damage dealer, you can choose whether you want to deal constant damage with Energy Blast or more inconsistent very high damage with an Esper.

We've basically covered her whole kit, but we are still missing her Limit Burst. It takes 30 LB crysts, which is a lot indeed, but it also does a lot in return.
At MAX LB, Yuna has a Curaja heal coupled with an AoE 74% HP revive AND a huge AoE HP regen. With a 3000 HP, 14.4x modifier split over 3 turns, this can heal up to ~3600 HP per turn with the build I am providing later on. THAT is great.
Thought we finished there? Nonono. Yuna's LB has one last buff to show off with. An AoE 124% 3 turn DEF/SPR buff. This is pretty much always great. Unless you use Noctis or Roy with their LBs as buffers, this is an upgrade. Especially Ramza or Lunera users will enjoy this LB. I would not go for auto LB on her though if you do plan on utilising her damage options.

    Cons:
Does this surprise you? A UNIT HAS CONS? no way...

Yuna's stats aren't particularly amazing sadly. Her HP is very low due to the lack of HP passives. Particularly her stat traits are quite disappointing. 30% MP/MAG/SPR is not a lot. If it was 50% MAG/SPR and like 10-20% HP on top of it, I think she'd look a lot more appealing. Her overall performance doesn't get hurt by it unless you run no tanks, but 30% in the current meta for a 5* base seems a bit low-ish. #nitpicking

Earlier I said that Prayer of the Aeons is her only way to fill up the Esper Gauge by herself. And yes, that's actually true. Unlike other units such as Eiko and Garnet who can quickly fill your Esper Gauge with their LBs, Yuna can't fill up your Esper Gauge as quickly. You are most likely going to rely on her Energy Blast for damage and hope that the chainers will collect most of the needed orbs. Or you actually wait for the Esper drop as Yuna is a great healer. But we are talking about the cons.

Yuna is lacking all forms of LB Fillrate to Auto LB passives, which is a shame. Yuna's LB is really strong but sadly requires 30 LB crysts. Massive heal, massive regen + other things, but unless you use Entrust units, LB fillrate buffs or a good amount of auto LB, I would not try to rely on this LB too much. If you get it however, damn it's good.

Something that got me thinking is why Yuna has a 100% undead magic killer. Evoke damage completely ignores her own set of killers, so how is that useful in any way? She has no abilities that can use this. Unless you are THAT guy who uses Ring of the Lucii. It's not a con but more of a wasted ability.

Hitting her healer capabilities a bit for non-veteran players: Yuna is unable to properly cure status ailments. Yes, she does have Esuna, but not even Esunaga. Our current top healers (Ayaka and LM Fina) can cure all status ailments in one go while also healing. Sadly Yuna is not capable of doing that.

Now, the con that's the most outstanding: Yuna does not have innate Dualcast. And the holy wand doesn't cut it either if you want to utilise her bar-ga spells. Therefore we have to differ from her usage. Either you use her as a damage dealer while sometimes using her LB or you sacrifice some nice stats for getting Soul of Thamasa or Dualcast to get the desired ability. It will get fixed later on in her 7* version, but for now you need some sort of DC to make her a great healer.

    Side-Notes:
    Yuna
has no enhancements but a 7* version in JP.
But her 7* fixes many issues she had before that upgrade.
Yuna gets innate DC, higher stats, her LB now also grants a good AoE MP regen on top of what she had before and she gets even more stuff.
Yuna now has Dispelga and Curaja as well. Finally, she ascended to the Curaja healers with 7*, making her still a pretty good choice. Curaja + Reraise performs almost as well as in the 6* meta. Besides that, Yuna does get a CD AoE 3000 HP barrier on low CD and an AoE CD Curaja + 5 Esper Gauge fill. PRETTY NICE. And of course, higher summon damage parameters. This pretty much fixes all of the old issues she had, which I personally like a lot.

    Best In Slot:
Using a hybrid MAG/SPR build for damage dealing, but will also give you the stats for a build with Soul of Thamasa.
    Nirvana (68 MAG, 116 SPR)
Mateus Malice (129 MAG, 10% HP)
Ministrel Prayers (42 MAG, 46 SPR)
Rainbow Robe (45 MAG, 45 SPR)
    Genji Gloves (10% MAG, Dualwield)
    Magistral Crest (30% MAG/SPR)
    ADV 5 (40% MAG/SPR)
    SSP-Water (40% MAG/SPR)
    Hat Arts (30% MAG/SPR)
    Strategist something (30% MAG/SPR)

    50% higher esper stats
    Stats with Bahamut:
    4380 HP
    472 MP | 553 w/ Soul of Thamasa
    297 DEF (447 after 100% buff) | 309 w/ Soul of Thamasa
    894 MAG (1060 after 100% buff) | 845 w/ Soul of Thamasa
    846 SPR (1027 after 100% buff) | 804 w/ Soul of Thamasa

    Arena:
Nothing of her kit screams to be used in the Arena. Literally nothing. Low-ish HP, no status ailments, no great status ailment protection, delayed AoE damage, no status ailment cures, no stop / stop cure. Nothing.

    Yuna [IMG] VS [IMG] Eiko
    • Yuna's LB is a strong heal + strong regen + aoe raise + def/spr buff
    • Yuna has Reraise (spell)
    • Yuna has finishers outside of Espers
    • Yuna has 4 bar-ga spells
    • Yuna has no innate DC
    • Yuna has 20% all element resistance
    • Both have Curaga
    • Both can evoke any party esper
    • Both have decent status ailment protection
    • Eiko has higher defensive stats
    • Eiko has 10% higher EVO MAG
    • Eiko can fill the esper gauge while doing something else
    • Eiko's LB is a strong heal + break cure + esper gauge fill
    • Eiko has innate DC white magic
    • Eiko has break curing spells
    • Eiko has Dispelga and Full-Life

This is probably the most requested comparison as both are summoners and healers. And both do a pretty good job at that. Eiko has a much much easier time filling up your esper gauge while also being a very very solid healer to the point where she can be your main healer while also being a pretty strong finisher. Since Eiko's LB can be semi-spammable if you are using Eccentrick, you won't have any issues with that.
While Yuna on the other side has that really strong Reraise available, a massive LB that sadly can't fill up your Esper Gauge but also the bar-ga spells. She has less innate EVO MAG , which means as a pure summoner, Yuna tends to lose. However, since their kits differ so much and Yuna is focusing more on the healer aspects than Eiko does, you will have to choose yourself what you need more.
Regarding the damage, Eiko is a lot more active because SHE is the one filling up your gauge. SHE can heal while filling it up, Yuna for the most part is hoping for your team to fill it up unless you really have the time to use her ability.
Let's compare Yuna's Energy Blast to Eiko's summon damage. Yes, I know Leviathan can be stronger than Bahamut and we do have Ifrit 3* now, but I won't include Ifrit in this month because for most it will take a month or more to get him to lvl 50+. KEEP IN MIND these maths have to include level correction. You can't compare damage to espers without level correction, every other maths I did so far excluded it because it was the same for everybody. I will include Yuna's damage without level correction as well.
    894 MAG
    After 100% buff: 1060
    846 SPR
    After 100% buff: 1027
    AVG Evoke Variance: 0.96

    Energy Blast Damage:
    (1060^2 + 1027^2) / 2 * 20 * (1 + 0.5) * (1 + (100/100)) * 0.93 * 4 = 243,101,516
    (121,550,758 without level correction)
    6000 ATK
    6400 DEF
    6400 MAG
    6400 SPR

    Bahamut Damage:
    (((6000/2 + 6400/2 + 6400 + 6400)/100 * (1 + 1))^2) * 300 * (1 + (30/100)) * 0.93 * 4 = 209,495,520
    _________________________________________________________

    Leviathan:
    5200 ATK
    3200 DEF
    6300 MAG
    3000 SPR

    Leviathan Damage:
    (((5200/2 + 3200/2 + 6300 + 3000)/100 * (1 + 1))^2) * 380 * (1 + (40/100)) * 0.93 * 4 = 144,272,016
    With 100% Imperil: 288,544,032
    _________________________________________________________

    Ifrit 3*:
    Assuming Lvl 60
Assuming 2x Blazing Evocation + 1x ST Reflection (not sure if 2x is possible)
No additional stat ups, just some maths.

    7480 ATK
    5060 DEF
    3880 MAG
    3880 SPR

    (((7480+ 5060+ 3880/2 + 3880/2)/100 * (1 + 1))^2) * 235 * (1 + (60/100)) * 0.93 * 4 * 2 * 1.5 → 452541421
So we can see that Eiko's Bahamut deals less damage, BUT also costs twice the amount Energy Blast costs. However, Bahamut is non-elemental and if you choose to use Leviathan with a 100% imperil, she will outdamage Yuna. Again, it depends on what you need and what you can afford. If you are lucky and get to max Esper Gauge really fast, you can easily outdamage Eiko with Yuna. But if you only occasionally use an Esper because they are busy, Eiko will be better, since Eiko can fill up your Esper Gauge a lot lot faster for the trade off of having double the cost.
It's personal preference. I don't think any of them win, you choose who's better for you. Playstyle and Team Composition are the key here. Especially Leviathan and Ifrit / Siren 3* in the right team will deal a lot more damage than Bahamut. Against Bahamut and Leviathan without additional set up, Yuna will be the one to go for.

Yuna [IMG] VS [IMG] Lotus Mage Fina
    • Yuna has 20% all element resistance
    • Yuna's LB is a massive heal + regen + raise + buff
    • Yuna has 4 bar-ga spells
    • Yuna has 50% EVO MAG
    • Yuna can summon any party esper
    • Yuna can deal good damage
    • Yuna has no Dualcast
    • Both have Reraise (spell)
    • LM Fina can cure status ailments
    • LM Fina has an AoE raise ability
    • LM Fina's LB is an AoE Reraise
    • LM Fina has a good AoE MP regen
    • LM Fina has Entrust
    • LM Fina has better defensive stats
    • LM Fina has Curaja
Yeah, I'm just doing this comparison for the record because some people will ask for this.
It's simple as that: if you want damage or utilise Espers a lot more than you want a healer: go for Yuna. She will do the job for you and can EASILY switch between damage and healing.
For healing and overall versatility however, LM Fina will be the one you are aiming for. Simply because her healing capabilities are off the charts and she has really nice side support.

    Trust Master Reward:
This staff I think is just great. For every healer that does not want to use Holy Wand, this is the best option. It has the same or maybe even slightly higher healing capabilities than Holy Wand while also having Auto-LB. It's only 1 LB per turn, but it CAN make a difference. 1 LB is still better than nothing. That being said, Yuna definitely wants to equip Nirvana (obviously) and if you are planning on using her, you should get this. Outside of that, it's not high on the priority list so you can easily skip it. Get it if you want to.

    Conclusion:
As I said in the very beginning: Yuna is an interesting unit.
Similar to Eiko she can be a great healer, especially since you don't need super high heals in the current content due to our great tank options and being able to swap between roles opens many different playstyles. She can be a gamechanger in fights where you do not want to bring Marie but still want that nice element resistance against fire, ice, thunder or water. And even then, Yuna is a solid finisher. It's not high up there with others like BS Sakura for instance, but Yuna is a healer at the same time.
If you happen to have Eiko, I don't think Yuna is worth going for but worth giving a shot since both still differ from each other. Players who liked Eiko will most likely have a spot for Yuna in their team occasionally as well. The main thing that makes Yuna stand out from Eiko is Reraise and reraise can be that one spell that carries you through a lot of content.
Yuna is a good unit. You should be aware of her downsides though.

I hope I can get her. Huge FFX fan here *sup*.
For real, she's a dope unit for many reasons and since I personally can't really fully utilise my LM Fina, I'd rather have a weaker healer that deals good damage on top of that.

I'm guessing the reason Yuna has this is simply a reference to her role in FFX,
when she performs the "sending" of the "unsent," aka the undead of a sort

I didn't get Eiko, so I'm very interested in Yuna. And I loved FFX. Plus I didn't get any good pulls last KM event and would like to have an easier time this go around.

Thanks again Meme! Your reviews are the best part of new banners for me!!! ::memelord::

I know WHY she has that lore wise, but it makes literally 0 sense in her kit. Her overdrive in the game would have been a lot smarter to basically fully fill the esper gauge or something

(even though I've always hated FF X) Yuna is bae. I'm going all in on this one. For Yuna I'm wondering if there might actually be a purpose for Trance Terra's TMR...

    EXCELLENT review sir.

Well I can see why though. Due to the FFX mechanics even in the later parts of the story Yuna can easily become a blackmage. In some of my runs there is a very easy way to make Lulu and Yuna OP even if you don't grind much. Keep the special sphere from Home and keep the black magic spheres. Just rush with Lulu to the -Ga spells and then to the Double Cast. Grab the -Ga spells with Yuna and use the Special sphere on double cast. Since Yuna has very similar magic stats to Lulu you can make her very useful later on for the story.

Though I wish they sort of made every FFX character a bit more versatile simply because everybody can have every ability in FFX etc. and even later on in the story without many grind sessions or none at all many start to get more abilities from other sphere paths, not even to mention if you dont use the regular sphere grid.

Usually 2-3 hours + 15 minutes converting it to reddit + 15 minutes linking it everywhere. Then ofc comment section. However today it took me 4 hours because I was very slow and I am using a crappy laptop due to me being at a friend's place, thus I am not used to the keyboard and size of it. Still feels pretty weird.
